Digitrax DCS 100 & DT100 throttles

A few days ago I acquired a few boxes of misc HO parts.

One of the items that was in those boxes was a Digitrax DCS100 system and 2 DT100 throttles. All of it looks to be in nice clean condition, except the plastic throttle knobs are missing off of one of the DT100 units.

What night be a reasonable price to ask for this equip, separately or together? By reasonable I mean not a premium used price, but a price that both myself and the buyer might be comfortable with??

Wye & DCC question

I am working a layout design with a wye where the leg that I plan to gap and power with the auto-reverser will lead into a small yard and interchange that goes nowhere else and is not connected to the rest of the layout. If there is another engine working in the yard what will happen when the AR detects an engine coming through the gapped part of the wye and reverses the polarity?

I have attached an image of the plan with the planned isolation point highlighted.

Atlas vs Peco Turnouts and Track?

I am designing a freelance layout in n-scale that models the steam to diesel transition period in the 1950's and 1960's for the Norfolk & Western.

I have a mining operation and a couple of town based yards that serve 2-3 industries each.

I am considering using Peco turnouts on my layout.  Are these better that Atlas turnouts?  What are the benefits of each?

I think Peco turnouts will look more realistic, but still want to make an informed decision.

QSI Decoder Issues

I bought a used Walthers SW8 that had a QSI sound decoder in it.  Unfortunately it seems to have the problem that it won't stop unless the emergency stop is pressed.  And when pressed it only stops the engine, it doesn't actually shut it off.  Pressing momentum does not seem to do anything. The unit will decrease in speed to a slow pace, but won't actually stop when the power is zero. Have tried resetting the decoder on my NCE PowerCab on the test track and the results always seem to  be the same. Wondering if any DCC gurus have some ideas.

Battery power and DCC

On the Millennials and model railroading thread, the discussion wandered off into the pros and cons of battery power.

Let's move that conversation here.

Unknown Decoder Mfg value

Hoping someone can shed some light on a DCC problem I'm having.  I have an used engine that I picked up and while it initially ran on a test track before being put away, it now doesn't run and I can't seem to get my NCE system to recognize it.  Several times I have gotten as far as it identifying a manufacturer number, but when I look this up in the NMRA table, that value doesn't actually correspond with anything known manufacturer.

Hex frog juicer numbers

Is there a limit to the number of hex frog juicers that can be used with the NCE Power Cab ?  Thanks Zeke

Shinohara code 83 turnouts

I was recently given some old Shinohara code 83 turnouts from my model rr club. I believe these are power routing, they are pretty old. I'm not sure how to wire these turnouts, can anyone provide any instruction on how to install these on a DCC layout?

Thanks, Mark

Red and Green LED signal lights dimming

I have recently added 2 signals to my layout using LED's. The signals are wired to operate from a PECO switch under the switch machine, so when the turnout is thrown against oncoming traffic, the signal turns red. The first one worked fine, but when I added the second one I found a problem. The green signal would dim when only one turnout was thrown, so one signal would display red and the other green.
