Trainmaster, there's now five of us who have lasers here, and I think I may be missing a few; Michael has been prolific, as too has been Rick Riemer. Save your money because when the times comes in about five-ten years, you'll be in a good position to have one yourself. While you are in school, though, keep your eyes out for classes with access to a laser or 3D printing, the skills will pay dividends for years to come.

Yeah,
my highschool next year has a 3d printer ;)
Hope to have one on my workbench in the coming years
Sure this is one of the best investment a modeler could do for a long time project like building a model railroad whit numerous buildings and small pieces to custom do.
Sure by the long way, it safe money and you could imagine your own building.
One thing I 'm afraid of is the necessity to have some good knowledge of a design computer program like CAD or any one of the same category.
These programs are not so easy to learn and use whithout a small cursus; 3D printer have the same issue to use them.
But this is just my opinion.
On the run whith my Maclau River RR in Nscale
I have something better than a laser!
A friend (Michael Rose) that said he will laser cut anything for which I provide the CAD drawing!
