Welcome aboard.

Yeah, not the easiest forum to navigate, search, or post in.  Pretty confusing and not very intuitive.  I'd offer some solutions, but honestly have not figured most of it out myself.  There are some here that really have a handle on on how this Drapol thing works --- they can offer some tips.

In the meantime, just poke around can't really hurt anything ... excpet for that "SPAM" button .. it will instantly remove the post from the thread w/o warning ...  :/

Not too difficult

Its not difficult to post a picture.

Using the "Post New Comment" Field

1: Click on "Image" Icon. First icon in the 2nd box from right in top row above. The "Image Properties" box appears.

2: Select "Upload" and "Browse". This will take you to "Windows Explorer" if you are using Windows.

3: Select a picture from your computer. The URL will appear in the "Send It To Server Box". Click on "Send It To    Server"

4: Change the size to fit. I use 700 in the "Width" box

5: Press "OK".

The image will appear like "Buddy" did below.

Then look at the "Preview" screen to check it and "Submit"

Sounds complicated but its not.

You can also make up a posting in Word or similar and "Cut & Paste" it.

This forum is controlled by a product called Drupal and is different in some respects to other forum control products. It does have good characteristics and I have been navigating in this forum since summer 2010.

First press enter at least once. Then: click on the image icon just above here. (Blue with green dot) Then click on the upload tab on top. Browse for your image. Then send it to the server, reduce image size to less than 800 x 800. then click ok. hopefully that should do it. I posted this random picture to insure my explanation was correct.

Newbies

Joe,

Since I know you read posts and this page, I'd like to make a suggestion. Upon joining, perhaps a choice that would allow new individuals to see a page of instructions on establishing a blog; posting photos; general rules and etiquette. That way, someone not a computer "geek" can get basic info, if they choose, thus preventing posts or cutting down on the ones that  say "it's not working."

Just a thought. . . .

Welcome!

Any difficulties aside, you will find this to be a friendly and helpful place to explore. Take some time and read past posts and blogs. There is a TON of great information. If you can't find what you are looking for, just ask, someone will point you to a previous post or answer your question, usually very quickly. I've made a few friends here and this is my go to place on the internet for my daily dose of model railroad information.

Welcome to the forums Eljay,

Welcome to the forums Eljay, you will like it here. When you are typing your post if you look above the area you are typing in you will see several icons. Move your mouse over them and instructions will appear, or a description that should be very helpful. As you scroll across you will come to one marked image. When you open it you can upload

an image like the one above. I will also suggest looking at the width box and reducing the size to something in the 300 to 450 size for most things as they take less space and band width, the one above is 450. It is easiest to upload photos that you have saved to a folder on your desk top by using the browse button and then after you select it choose send it to the server and wait a bit.

Like they say in the commercial "Try it you'll like it."

Also many folks have Blogs on this site that you can visit. Lots of them are quite extensive and very informative and entertaining. The blue text at the bottom will take you to my Blog or you can also go to my Clubs web site for example just by clicking on them. As you navigate through the web site and read through lots of different forum topics you will see lots of them from the folks that post on here and you will likely enjoy a great many of them.

I would also caution you to remember that often emotion is not clear from the typed word and what can be meant to be a light hearted humorous comment can be mistaken to be condescending or worse and most times things are not meant to be that way. So enjoy yourself you will meet a great bunch of talented people on here.
