Nice Collection

A great collection of models and photographs.  Joe's MILW F Unit, Kevin's Airslide, the grain hoppers, they all look great.  I like the idea of the monthly photo album; eye candy from a different group of talented modelers. - Jeff

...

I still think the cover should have been 100% black and white - it looks so COOL with that picture on it!!!

If it had been entirely black and white, I'd have been thrown about precisely when the issue was published!!  2013?  how about 1953!

Great idea for spilled corn. Any suggestions for concrete? Thanks again for photos.

Great Addition

I think this is going to be one of my favorite sections of the magazine.

In fact, if a certain hard copy magazine's Trackside Photos section were done this well and with this much diversity of input, I'd probably still be a subscriber to that magazine.

But, why bother when I can get a better product for free?

Really enjoyed this

A great collection of models and photographs.  Joe's MILW F Unit, Kevin's Airslide, the grain hoppers, they all look great.

Thanks Jeff!  I loved your weathering examples in Ken's article.  The DT&I pig flat was especially nice.

I hope it's not in bad form for me to speak up here, but my own photo aside, I really enjoyed this feature.  As was said, it reminds me of Trackside Photos, but better.  I think it's neat to see so much of the work of others, as it inspires me to tackle more of my own projects.  It was also fun to get that email from Joe F. about having a pic chosen, without even having submitted anything (other than posting to the WPF thread), and I hope that'll encourage others to post more pics of their own in that thread.

All I can say is.......

Awesome work!

Also check Fallen Flags site for RR photos

Folks also may want to bookmark the Fallen Flags site at http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/ as it has many photos of various railroads, in particular a lot of freight car photos. And it also has current railroad pictures, not just photos from fallen flags.

I used to think I was the only person in the world with a DTI piggyback flat, but no more. I'll have to admit that yours looks way more realistic than mine!

Kevin::

In a word - outstanding! Given that you refer to Tom Zarnock's work as providing impetus and inspiration, I wondering if you could provide a link to his work?

Thanks,

Tom's build

Thanks for the compliment.  Here's the link to Tom's work on ProtoModeler.com: http://www.protomodeler.com/index.php?/topic/1737-superdetailed-2-bay-airslide-hopper-4180cuft-walthers-ho/

You'll probably have to sign up to see it, but it's well worth it.  There is a lot of great material on the site besides that.  My Airslide doesn't hold a candle to Tom's excellent work.  Take a look...you'll find his post very inspirational and informative.
