Some people won't be pleased no matter what you do.
I happen to like the extras and consider having to wait a few days them well worth the wait. But thee will always be a few to whom ni wait is worthwhile. So keep doing the great job you are doing and add some sugar to the sour grapes to make them taste better.

The Instant Gratification Gang
Joe,
The Instant Gratification Gang and other malcontents are going to continue to gripe regardless. Some of them may not want MRH to succeed, some might be griping because they spent a week trying to figure out how to download and view the magazine and then couldn't get instant gratification when they did, some probably just like to complain. I think all you can do with squeaky wheels like this is what you do already. Tell them you are sorry they are unhappy and then mostly try to ignore them.
Since there is little you can do to change the reality that currently, MRH has finite resources when it comes to man/woman power, actual systems and/or processing power, finances and hours in a day, all you can do is continue to strive to put forth the best product you can and keep proving the nay sayers wrong.
If the extras have to go because they are hindering the release of the core content then so be it but I would sure hate to lose access to FREE content over a few constant complainers.
Those of us who simply enjoy MRH and want to see it do well are happy to wait for content. Some of us understand that rendering eats hours and hours of system time and that skilled editors are not a dime a dozen. Further we understand that a venture like this doesn't grow and become prosperous in the first year. I think most of the subscribers here get that the people behind MRH have day jobs. and lives as well as this monumental undertaking demanding of their time. We can all be patient.
I don't know why some subscribers act like they are paying for this, like MRH somehow owes them something, like MRH has now let them down because they can't get to the FREE goodies right away. It reminds me of the way my 2-1/2 year old acts sometimes. [wink]
MRH is such a good thing. I just don't get why everybody isn't as happy about it as I am? Come on guys, lighten up a bit and join the party!
Scale Converter.air problem downloading
Thanks for the goodies. I've downloaded the dvd zip files but am having a problem downloading the ScaleConverter.air. If I do a Save Link As I get a file that is 2k in size but when I attempt to open it or do an Install, it is reported as damaged. If I just click on the link I get a 404 - page not found which would explain the download situation.
No complaint, just providing information. I also get a similar problem with ie v8.

Thanks, Bill ... we'll take a look at the .AIR module and make sure it's good. Try it again tomorrow - should work fine by then.

Air on SuSE 11.2 Linux
Anyone sucessfully install Adobe AIR on SuSE 11.2? It looks like it's installing and then claims the install failed due to an (unspecified) error - and that I need to contact my system administrator. Being that I am my system administrator and it doesn't appear to log anything, this has been singularly futile.
Ideas?
Update: appears that Adobe Air doesn't do 64 bit Linux....

Jeff I may be wrong but,
Jeff I may be wrong but, There is an Adobe Air up date and until I installed the update on windows 64 I couldn't get it to work. I know nothing about SuSE as I use windows and Firefox so this patch may not do anything for you.

Working Fine now
Saturday morning, Jan 9th - downloaded the ziped file and went thru the install process and things are working fine. I'm running XP Home at latest patch levels.
This is a really slick application and certainly worth the "cost" - and actually far exceeds it.

Sayers and nea sayers.
Fellows ,
Doers and ne-er do wells..sayers and neah sayers. Everybody has one. This E magazine is good. The body of subscibers needs contribute to keep it flying . The effort to make it exist is appreciable . Thank you Joe , and the others who make it happen . I pile on , chime in , to iterate the point. I get reminded by friends that we have all kinds. It does not necessarily take all kinds , we just got all kinds. It is good to understand the source of complaint and give it due consideration. This is sometimes none . People write with their opinions , those opinions are coloured by their personal existence and current state . I tend to get involved in the complaint and lose track of what is important. What is important , is to be happy and enjoy our hobby . I identify a body of fellows here who are balanced and giving , upbeat and helpful , Thank you to these fellows too , you know who you are . I am for contributing and making this venture a success . I enjoy it , this giving is for my own benefit as well . A recently heard comment was that those who give are the happiest among us .

Adobe Air applications
Hey!
The Scale Conversion utility program is the first Adobe AIR application that MRH has produced. We had a several reasons for going this direction:
So please bear with us as we take our first baby steps with Adobe AIR. Hopefully, this will work out well and you'll be seeing more cool little apps (like with the next issue of MRH)!
Best regards,

Well heck, and I thought .AIR
Well heck, and I thought .AIR was a placeholder!
Great selection of extras. Had to play the videos in VLC as Quicktime was to jerky.
