How come the magazine doesn't fill the screen?
Is this what you see in Adobe Reader when you go to full screen?
Is this what you'd like to see in Adobe Reader Full Screen?
HERE'S HOW
One easy option to get the original Landscape view is to just use the Landscape format, available here.
If you want to make the Portrait format look more like the original landscape version, you have a couple of options for getting your screen-filling landscape view back with our new Gen2 Portrait version in Adobe Reader.
Option 1 takes our preferred approach of using the new richer functionality of Read Mode (CTRL + H). But you need to be using Adobe Reader 10 (X) or greater. Get the latest version of Adobe Reader here.
Option 2 allows you to keep using the less functional Full Screen Mode if that's your preference, and it works with older versions of Adobe Reader.
OPTION 1: Use Read Mode instead of Full Screen Mode
Here's how to use Adobe Reader's new more feature-rich Read Mode. On the Adobe Reader toolbar, find the Read Mode button and click it (you can also use CTRL + H on PCs, or control + command + H on a Mac):
TIP: To toggle the Menu bar on and off, just use F9 on the PC or shift + command + M on the Mac.
Once you've clicked Read Mode, here's what you should see:
Reminder: If you're still seeing the menu bar at the top, F9 toggles it off on the PC, shift + command + M toggles it off on the Mac.
Notice Read Mode looks very similar to Full Screen, but it has some extra features we really like. For instance, if you hover over the document, you get a tool bar of functions that includes zooming and printing - something that's just not available in Full Screen Mode:
Also, if you right click on the PC (command + click on the Mac), you get a nice menu of extra goodies you can do like our favorite, Marquee zoom:
Marquee zoom lets you drag your mouse to select a zoom area and shazaam, you're looking at that area zoomed in. To get back to your previous view, just right click again (command + click on a Mac) and then select Previous View.
OPTION 2: Turn off full screen single page default
Here's how to get Adobe Reader Full Screen to give you a landscape-filling view that looks like the MRH used to.
On the PC, go to the Edit menu and select Preferences ... (CTRL + K)
On the Mac go to the Adobe Reader menu and select Preferences ... (command + ,)
In the dialog box that comes up, click Full Screen category on the left, then uncheck Fill screen with one page at a time, then click OK.
Now select Full Screen in the View menu, or just do CTRL + L (PC) or command + L (Mac) to toggle full screen:
And voila! Full screen mode with a two-page spread that looks almost identical to our old format.

More bells and whistles than a choo-choo train
Thanks for the tip on turning off the "Fill screen with one page at a time". Super Duper.

Been using Acrobat Pro X...
a few years now and never knew about these neat tricks. Guess its time to get out the manual and see what other stuff it can do. I like the new format. Seems easier to read even without the "read mode" trick. I don't own a smart phone or a tablet, just my desktop PC and it still looks great.
Thanks!

I have read the help thread and am more confused then before. Do I have to open MRH thru Adobe now. when I opened the Jan issue to read on screen I don't see anything about Adobe or the things you talk about in these how to screens. Also when I click the link to get the latest version of Adobe Reader when I get to Adobe's site the version there is only 9.5. How do I get the 10.0+ version?

From reading your comment above, you normally view the magazine on line through your browser. If so, this topic thread does not pertain to you, it is a discussion for those that download a copy of the magazine and view it with the Adobe Acrobat reader.
If you want the latest reader program, go here:

For those of us who use Foxit
For those of us who use Foxit Reader, the new format doesn't display pages past the "inside front cover" in fullscreen mode.

Joe, I usuall just go to the "Recent Posts."
I probably use "Recent Posts" most of the time and then once a month I go to "Get Current Issue" and down load it onto my computer. If this thread gets moved off the front page, new comers may not be able to find it and keep asking the same question over and over. I would suggest that it would be worthwhile to put a link to this topic on both the "Get Current Issue" page as well as the "Download Back Issues" page.

Bill, I guess I didn't make my post clear. I don't read it on line I always download the magazine to read when I want to. Also I can and have saved all issues of MRH in folders on my computer. This way I can always go back and/or copy to a disc.Again I say that I have not seen any of the things on screen that are being discussed here. I just want to know how this is all going to work. I also like many other readers do not own a IPAD,smart phone etc and at this do want to.

@richhard01 - more help, maybe
Have you downloaded the Acrobat reader V XI (V11)?
If you want the latest reader program, go here:

I also suggest that you read the last few comments in this post - it may be less confusing:

Among those last few comments, Joe Fugate shows an alternate version of the magazine you can download that may solve some of your problems.
It would be helpful if you can describe what your PC is configured for - version of Windows or other and what service pack(s) may be installed.

I don't know if I'm missing
I don't know if I'm missing something, or it just does not like me... Adobe is up to date (11x), as it updates regularly...
When I open the file, it shows one page. I've gone into read mode, still one page. I've done CRTL+L, CRTL+K and unselected the single page option, ect, and it still only shows one page.
Oddly, adobe has done well at hiding ALL of the menu buttons in 10+ reader, so the keyboard shortcuts helped.
Year old HP, windows 7, 4gb Ram, Core i7 processor, Adobe 11x...
@Josh - Maybe this helps
To view the menu bar, try F9.

How to get facing pages correct in portrait
To get facing pages in portrait, here's the trick:
- F9 toggles the menu on and off
- Select View > Page Display > Two Page View
- Make sure Show Cover Page in Two Page View (in the Page Display menu) is checked, otherwise the facing pages "cadence" will be off.
The cover must be on its own portrait page with no facing page, otherwise the two page view will be off with things like the track plans and the big gondola image incorrectly split onto different facing page spreads.
