I have found some great
I have found some great Facebook group.
Take for instant the one I belong to the is all about Desert modeling or another that is all about the SP and then another I belong to is local Arizona only. Then the Ops Group etc. etc.
I see more play in the Facebook groups than here on MRH, and oddly no politics of any kind from TYCO to Rivet counter. It is keeping the space open. I'm not so narrow minded I would not subscribe to MR,RMC,N-Scale, N Scale Railroading, Op-Sig Dispatcher Office, YouTube Model Builders eMag, Trackside Model Railroading etc. Why would you limit your self to only one source of information?

Fake Model Railroader, subpar at best.
Providing no usable information or value to this or any conversation.
Can not spell, has limited writing skills and failed reading comprehension.
Most post contain a great deal of snark, A true indication off no education and well below average intelligence.
And not to mention the long standing siggy which also smacks of trolling.

Posting about what you want to talk about won't work here. For instance: A while back when the Rapido SW1200RS was introduced the Canadian Facebook group was packed with comments, facts, etc... general excitement. Someone has posted a question about the SW1200RS here on MRH. His question was answered but it did not spark discussion. When you get into niches in the hobby, a general board like this one won't cut it. Don't get me wrong, this is a great place but when it comes to model railroading I have more interaction on my Facebook groups than I do here. Even when the topic does come up here on MRH.

If there's guys on Facebook interested in trains show them the way to get over here, explain it's run by a real model railroader not a social media company. I still can't believe that there are serious hobbyists not away of the benefit of the hobby magazines forums and stuck on Facebook in that huge pot of gruel :>) .......DaveB

Why don't you start a
There are already a Yahoo group, and a separate early rail forum over on the Railroad Line Forums, plus the Facebook group, that are active. Its much easier (and realistic) for me to join 100 other people than for me to convince 100 other people to leave where they are and join me someplace else.

I limit my sources of information because that's all I need. Too much info can become distracting. How many weathering photos do I need to see before I can weather a car? Model railroading skills are developed by practice more than reading about more ways to do it. I don't need ten more ways to install foam or wood for benchwork if I've already built 10 layouts. So with MRH magazine and forum, google search and maps, youtube videos, and ebay market place of many things I get plenty of free info, any more would be overkill and time wasting......DaveB

Nice that makes you special,
Nice that makes you special, good for you. I enjoy all that stuff as do many people. I'm just not as special as you are.

I don't know, you are pretty persuasive :>) Maybe point out the positive implications of supporting MRH over Facebook, and would you miss the 100 Facebooker's comments as much as they'd miss your input? ....DaveB

This is just troll bait now
You said essentially the same on the "Episode 83: NMRA President Charlie Getz & Company" thread.
HO - Western New York - 1987 era "When your memories are greater than your dreams, joy will begin to fade."
Different mindset
That's a different mindset: something of a "don't bother me with new stuff" way of thinking. It's certainly a way to do the hobby and I'm not going to say it's wrong, but it's quite different from how I do the hobby.
For me, a very enjoyable part of the hobby is learning new stuff and growing. I'm always on the lookout for new and better ways to do the hobby. Discovering a new method or technique energizes me and makes me want to go give it a try. It helps me do the hobby more and isn't a distraction at all -- it's a motivator.

You get your info from where you choose. Asking folks to move from Facebook to MRH is kinda weird actually. It'd be like asking all the guys from the Atlas Rescue Forum to come here. That's another forum that is different from this one and has stuff MRH forums don't have. In the end people choose to get their info from where they want but we can't assume that any one place is better than another. There are "real" model railroaders all over and you'll find them on every social media platform. I know guys that use Reddit and are model railroaders. I tried it and didn't like the interface. It means I'm missing out on what's going on over there but I can live with that. Long and short of it is if you refuse to try other social media platforms, you're going to miss out on stuff. Each one has its pros and cons and none can be dismissed out of hand as "bad".
