Sounds Great!

Glad they came out with the EMD 1st and 2nd Gens, it will sound great in my Conrail 4020 E8A

AT style board

One of the reasons I asked Jared about the Atlas style board is because Nancy Workman (the big cheese at Soundtraxx) had mentioned to me the night before that it would be out around the end of August. She reiterated that (with a hedge into early/mid-fall) later when I asked her again.

Thanks Jeff

That same Atlas Style decoder fits early Genesis SD70's, and I have a number of those. Newer Genesis can use an 8 pin decoder.

New Diesel Tsunami

I am looking forward to more than just EMD sound. I would like to see Alco and GE

sounds also. But we are going in the right direction.

RACCOON VALLEY RAILROAD

Brings back memories of SP GPs on Mococo Line

I think Soundtraxx has nailed the first generation EMD prime mover. I remember watching GP9's switching the Mococo Line and it brought back some good memories. I hope on the 2nd generation sound, they do both a 20 and 16 cylinder, as they do sound different. Hopefully a non-turboed version as well for all those GP38's running around. The only thing I didn't remember hearing was the dynamic breaking, does it sound like should? Maybe someone can answer that one for us.

I got something in my eye...

I used to work trackside along the Santa Fe, and all afternoon and night I'd hear those CF7's working the industries in the area.  That sounded so good, I can close my eyes and go back 30+ years in an instant.  I have never heard a sound unit that good before, from any source, ever.

Someday, I sure hope you folks do a big GE U-Boat chip/sound effect....I won't even ask about Alco Centuries.

What puzzles  me is the lack

What puzzles  me is the lack of transponding support in this new decoder.  Read thru the Tsunami manual and it says no transponding.  I find this strange as it is required for their SurroundTraxx gizmo.

Marc

If I understood the

If I understood the presentation correctly, Digitrax transponding is required ONLY in the locomotives being controlled by the Digitrax system that is connected to the "SurroundTraxx gizmo."  The locomotives in question do not require a sound decoder.

The "SurroundTraxx gizmo" has the Soundtraxx decoder(s) installed in it, one for each locomotive involved.  The Digitrax Transponding information is sent to the Soundtraxx "SurroundTraxx gizmo" telling it where to send the sounds for each of the locomotives.  Soundtraxx states that the sound system can simultaneously follow and control the sound for six locomotives maximum.

I think that a review of the Digitrax Users forum volume 3 explains the operation of SurroundTraxx.  Perhaps SoundTraxx has posted some information as well, I have not checked.
