Fictious scottish modular layout build by germans
Hello I want to show you some pictures from a modular layout build by two friends of mine and myself. It's located on the Isle of Skye in Scotland.
Progression on my O-scale station.
It's Easter and in Norway that means schoolbreak. Is a good time for relaxing, this week the construction have stopped on the station since I have travelled down south to visit my parents and brothers.
Since my last post the last of the center modules have been put together and track has been laid. Handlaying the tracks and turnouts using simple tools and three Fast Tracks jigs I can't come without. Handlaying has become so much easier. I'm glad dad told me about Fast Tracks before I started.
Hudson and Hartford update II
It's April and it's the spring holiday season. Of course it's starting out as a rainy holiday season and that is never fun. Of course going out doors isn't exactly fun when it rains but I'd rather have rain than snow.
It's the lighting!
Lighting can really make or break a photo no matter what the subject. Model railroads are especially subject to lighting.
In this picture I used a single 90W halogen flood lamp set about 20' back from the scene as a late afternoon sun with a single 3200K photo flood bouncing off the ceiling for sky-bowl lighting. I manually set the camera's white balance to 2800K (it's nice to have a camera where you can specify white balance that way).
Cheers,
Construction Continues on the Landenberg Branch
It's been a while since I posted anything on may layout and I just wanted to update what I've been up to lately in regards to the layout. In the last few monts I have got the first layout section into operation, Trackwork and Wiring are completed, and scenery is under way. The fascia is installed and painted, and I scratchbuilt a wood trestle as practice. It won't actually go on this section, but there are several trestles in later sectiojns of the layout. Now for the pics.
First, an overall view.
Monday video
I participated in the annual FREMO meeting, this year in Braunlage, Harz Mountains.
We had a school together with gym! There were clinics in the class rooms and different layouts in the gym and assembly hall. And layouts from H0-USA, americaN , H0-Europa together with narrow gauges, H0-Europa modern, 0-scale with narrow gauge.
Start of backdrop
Hi everyone,
A start has been made in painting the backdrop, the walss and part of the ceiling were painted a "Skye Blue" which gave a pretty good approximation to the real thing.
I've taken tips from Joe's DVD's (thanks) and also MR's "Painting a backdrop by Mike Danneman" for once I brought the book and won the dvd's BEFORE I started on the job in hand.
The backdrop is complete halfway around my shed and partially textured too, it awaits the foreground trees and foliage.
Best wishes
Tales from the Basin
A little history
Geologists believe that 1.8 billion years ago an asteroid about 6 miles across slammed into what would someday become Northern Ontario, striking with the force of thousands of nuclear bombs. All that's left of that impact today is an oval depression rimmed by rocky hills and an abundance of nickel and copper ore, among other minerals, known as the Sudbury Basin.
Trackage 2 Gravel Pit - (Ballast?)
Hi, There RR's.
Can anybody give me some insite as 2 the trackage, & were it diverged, to a gravel pit (Ballast Pit?) Approx. 2 miles NW of the town of Ester, on the CPR line from Laverna 2 Hemaruka in East Central Alberta, Canada.
Hand Laying Track
Ah yes, hand laying track. Some folks say you're not a model railroader until you hand lay your own track, others say what's the point with modern quality track available.
Me, I've wanted to do this, so therefore I am.
