No more "Mr. No Account"

I explained elsewhere in this blog where the "noah_count" screen moniker came from and how it just became automatic for me when I signed up for things so I won't go into it again. I never minded when folks made the honest mistake of calling me "Noah" because I know it could be confusing.

Looking back and looking forward

This morning I was looking for an old track plan and information in my post index. All of a sudden, I found myself reading old post and old responses. Forty five minutes later, after tearing myself away to get breakfast, I decided to write this as my first blog post in a long while.

Pleased with the "pour"

I've been working on a scene for awhile and I knew eventually it was going to require an Envirotex layer for water. Today was the day as things had finally progressed on the scene enough to do the pour and also the rest of my family was going to be gone most of the day. Even though I don't smell the stuff, they do and I opened some windows and got to mixing and pouring. I'm pretty pleased. Not ready for a total reveal  of the scene just yet but soon enough. Meantime, here's a little shot showing the pour.

Some more structures for the "Black & Blue"

Having found some time to do some modeling these past few days I thought I would update my blog with pics of some of the structures I've been building for the layout. Structure modeling is not one of my favorite things but you pretty much have to have them so I usually will carve out the time to build a couple in a row. The only structures i have so far on the layout are involved with the engine service area which is known as "Westcott".

Time to get started again, McClanahan Gorge

I haven't posted anything to my blog in awhile because I've not done much on the layout lately.  I just seemed to hit a "creative lull" which happens sometimes. I've continued to download and enjoy MRH though and I've peeked at the forum on occasion and commented here and there on stuff of interest to me or where I felt I could help others but that's been the extent of my involvement in the hobby lately.

I love doing scenery! (Another quick layout update)

Just a quick update on the recent work on the "Black n'  Blue" I had posted some pics in my last blog update of what I called "The Ridge" and over this weekend I managed to complete some more work on it and the result is shown below. I've included a couple of the "before" pics that were already shown just to show the evolution of the scene so far.... I love doing scenery!

The labor day weekend "push"....more progress

Last time I updated my progress on the Black n Blue, I was gently admonished by a fellow poster and hobbyist  because the stuff I was showing was in a more " finished" state and I didn't show more pictures of how I had arrive there.  So I'm making an effort this time to show a little more "in progress" work.  Most of what is shown here has been  being worked on, in one form or another, either the " imagineering"  or the actual work,  for the last couple of weeks.

"Srehtlaw" and "the necessary grade" Black n Blue progress report

It occurs to me that while I've been working on my layout and taking occasional breaks to peek at this forum and comment on a range of subjects that it's actually been awhile since I've posted any progress reports on the layout. So here goes....

The trouble with trees......

The trouble with trees is that layouts eat them.  I've been in a real rut lately with the layout  and with modeling and the hobby in general. I briefly considered leaving because I thought I had lost the " magic"  I was getting out of modeling and then, just like that, I found it again.

Vacation time equals progress

I've been on vacation this week and had to do the inevitable errands and honey do's  as well as trying to get my above ground pool ready for the summer season. But, amidst all that I did find time last night and today to start making some more progress on the layout  and knock out some items on a " punch list" I made up.
