Last Update on my Garve and Ullapool Railway Layout

Due to a house move and change of workplace, I have to tear down my layout.

My new train room is smaller than the actual one, And there is no place for Ullapool and Inverlael. But my other modules could be reused. I will keep you up to date with my new layout.

Framework on the G&D Sorethroat branchline extended and a locomotive question

In the last few days I extended the layoutframe to the place of the passing station. Pictures will follow soon.

I'm wondering if you could help me. I'm looking for another small steam engine for the G&D Sorethroat branch.

So could you tell me the length of the Bachmann Alco 2-6-0 and the older Bachmann 2-6-0?

Thank you

Markus

Work on the G&D engineshed continued

During the last few days I continued on my G&D engine shed.
For some time I thought about how I could make the windows of these building. Because I didn't know if there are a commercial available  product out there I scratch built them. I copied the windows on clear acetat sheet from the drawings I have, and glued stained wooden profiles on them. Then I inserted the windows.

Detailed some scenes at Leckmelm

Today I wanted to plant some fence post to seperate the railway from the quarry.
But when finished with that task I had a look if I've got other stuff to place on the module.
First I placed the Peco crossing gates.
Next project was the fence on the platform of Leckmelm station.
I also livened up the goods yard, with some figures, a small office and some fence.
Then I placed a old cattle van at the edge of the garden of the station master. Now it
waits for some cattle. I also enlivened the quarry area.

G&D Gorre engine shed

During my holiday in the Harz Mountains I started with building an engine shed based on John Allens

Gorre engine shed. The walls are made fromm 1mm thick balsa wood and the roof shingles are made from

thin balsawood stripes.

Train Ride on the Harzer Schmallspurbahn in eastern Germany

I spent the last two weeks on holiday in the northern Harz Mountains in eastern Germany.

Due to severe cold I suffered in the first week I couldn't spent as much time as planned on

riding trains on the Harzer Schmallspurbahnen (Harz Narrow Gauge Railway"

But last thursday I was able to ride on the Selketalbahn from Stiege (with turning loop) to Eisfelder Talmühle

(where the Selketalbahn joins the Harz Querbahn from Nordhausen to Wernigerode"

The first bit of Scenery on the G&D Sorethroat Branch

Yesterday I started with the first bit of scenery on my G&D Sorethroat Branch.

I filled the area with some cardboard and then applied some earth and Woodland Scenic blended Turf.

The figures and the car are only temporary in place.

IHC Packing Plant and Cannery for my G&D Sorethroat Branch

Last week I received the IHC Packing Plant and Cannery kits, which I bought from a german

ebay seller. During last week I built the kits and now they are nearly finished. Only some details are missing. And the roofs are not glued down, so that I can add some interior at a later date.
