Where does the time go.
It really is amazing how quickly time passes! It has been almost 3 years since my last post - December 2011, I think.
Well, there is not much to report as far as layout progress, time, money and space are in short supply. I am pleased, however, with the completion (for the time being, I keep thinking of small details to add) of my coal mine model - you can get a little look at it in my photo attachment. Hopefully it isn't resized in such a way so as to take too much away.
Still Chuggin'
It's been June since the last time I was here. Where does the time go.
I have been working away on my mine buildings (very slowly), and I am progressing well. I have actually finished building my hoist house and am much happier with the result I got. I am starting on the pit head/tipple structure.
This is just a check in, I will return with more and better detail.
The Saga Continues
I've been moving along, slowly but surely.
I am still working on my mine buildings. Specifically, the hoist house. I actually had it all finished, but I did not like the result. There wasn't really anything wrong with it, it just wasn't right. I've attached some photos so you can see what I mean.
Mine Buildings
Spent a little money over the last couple of days on some building supplies - styrene, card, glue. I'm going to start building my mine buildings. My little pike is going to be centred around it, so it is my logical first step.
I'm using the plans the Jack Work published in a three part series in October, November and December 1959.
My layout is very likely going to change a little according to these mine buildings, but I expected that.
Hat River Coal & Navigation Co.
This is my first blog post here, so give me a minute and I'll set the stage a little. I was born and raised in Alberta, Canada, but have lived and worked in Newfoundland and Labrador for the last 8 or 9 years.
