It really is amazing how quickly time passes! It has been almost 3 years since my last post - December 2011, I think. Well, there is not much to report as far as layout progress, time, money and space are in short supply. I am pleased, however, with the completion (for the time being, I keep thinking of small details to add) of my coal mine model - you can get a little look at it in my photo attachment. Hopefully it isn't resized in such a way so as to take too much away. Way back when I seriously started planning my layout I knew that coal would be playing a big role in my road's story. Not just as fuel for my locomotives ( my time period is about 1910 to 1935), but also as one of the main commodities moved on my line. That being the case, at least one mine needed to be modelled. I think in posts past I promised to take lots of pictures of the build. I didn't do that, when I get going I tend to lose track of time and just work at it I am in the process of moving once again. To a house that, unfortunately, does not have space to allow construction of very much, but - there will be a large garage with enough space for me to build a fairly generous room devoted only to my layout. Cheers, Jim.

I know Mother named me after a railroad man, but it's too late now, I'm afraid. Much, much too late.

Thanks,

Thanks, Bill, I didn't know how to do that. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. And I learned a lot of lessons on this build, too, that will serve me well on my next projects. I took it outside to photo to get the colours in the sunlight. The table does look a little like water, now that you mention it. Cheers, Jim.

P.S. Today the number of Newfoundlanders pinned to the map increased by 100%.

Nice Job

Looks like a Jack Work mine. Was it a kit?

WOW

Beautiful, fantastic, awe inspiring.

But , being a nit picker, I noticed the rail joiners.

Some one should whack me in the back of the head for even seeing them.
