DecoderPro, Digitrax PR3 and my computer

My PR3 finally arrived the other day but I didn't get a chance to look at it until last night. I read thru some of the instructions and noticed that the PR3 comes with a mini-disk containing the necessary software to make it work. I haven't put everything together yet but it doesn't look that hard and it certainly doesn't look complicated.

Now the question is what should I mount the PR3 on. For now it will be in my office next to my computer which is a Dell XPS desktop. I already have DecoderPro on the computer and I am thing of mounting the PR3 on 24 inch x 4 inch plank of basswood abd installing a section of track long enough to do some programing on that same plank of wood. I can easily hook up the programming wires since I already have a couple of wires soldered to track joiners. I intend to use several sections of N-Scale (that's what I in) snap track with a rerailer in the middle.

I may just set it up and see how it works sometime today. If it does work, and i don't see any reason why it shouldn't, I'll snap some photos and try to post them later this week.

In the meantime, your comments, suggestions and criticisms are allways welcome.

Nothing is hard till you put the Mini-disk in the CD/DVD drive and it craps the head to pieces.  Just kidding.

Once you get the software/driver up and running we shall see if it all goes well for you.  Keep us posted.

The 3 X 24 sounds perfect.

I built a 12X48, with rerailler, Kadee magnet, one turnout that I use to setup the cars with.  NMRA gauge, Kadee coupler height gauge. I  also added a  DPDT C-OFF  toggle switch to go from POM to SERV mode so I can program and test right their.  So it is a test/program/maintenance board that I can tie my computer too and run JMRI.
