Opening Feedback and Derailments Video

Folk,

When ever I click on any of the normal symbols for either viewing the video on the Derailments page or the feedback when I am viewing the July issue from the saved, downloaded on to my Windows Vista Computer desktop, I can only get the downloading function.  I can not reach the comments nor view the imploding tank car.  I used the mirror function for a landscape download, fully embedded.

Downloading troubles

I am having consistent problems downloading the June and July Issues to my MAC.  Downloads fine, saves fine, then will not open- error with file opening in PDF.  I have all previous issues and never had a problem before. On the June issue I tried all the options listed in the FAQ section and finally found one that worked.  But cannot replicate with July. I seem to remember that one of the options had the selection button to download to Mac but cannot find that selection button again. I freely admit it is probably user error.  Will try again tomorrow.

Anyone else having this issue?

You can also go to the online edition and click download

You can also go to the online edition (just go to the home page and click start reading), then click the download button on the bottom of the cover page. If all else fails, that should work - it's about as brain-dead of a download as it gets.

Follow up

Yup been there, done that. Opens fine, downloads, Saves to my hard drive. Then get this message when trying to open the file.

Message from Adobe reader saying that the file cannot be opened it is corrupted.

Will try downloading from older issues when the file is moved to the old issues area.

It seems to be an issue with downloading it to the Mac.  As I mentioned I was able to select a MAC format before but cannot seem to find that option for new issues since June.

Mac, aye?

Mac, aye? What version of the OS? How are you trying to read the issue - using preview, or Adobe Reader?

Download issues reply

Joe - I am using OS X 10.8.4 and Adobe reader 11.0.03.  I am downloading the files and saving to my hard drive. Then opening (well I wish I was) them using adobe reader. The files download and save fine but when attempting to open them I get the error message.

I have gotten the issue via download and reading on line so I thought I would try again once it's posted as a "Previous" issue and see what happens then.  I had this same trouble with the June issue but fumbled around trying various things and got it to work - however I cannot remember what is was that worked and I tried all the variations this time to no avail. Have tried all the possibilities you mentioned in the download troubleshooting article.  But again I can wait until the end of the month and attempt it from that area to see if is makes a difference. So you need not take much time to figure this out for me.  I do appreciate the comments though.

Please don't hold this against me in regard to the article you have of mine for publishing - Ha ha - just kidding.  I don't want you to think I am too much of a fumble butt to publish.

Downloading to the Mac

This is redundant to my email I sent Joe.

Today the selection box appeared asking me to download the format of the magazine including the MAC version. I did it and it worked perfectly. Thanks for the solution.
