Model Railroad Hobbyist - Download Help

Here's a brief video that shows how to successfully download our rich media PDFs using the alternative download links that bypass our download wizard.

Also see our troubleshooting tips.

If you're desperate, you can click here to get physical disk media instead of the free download or read online free. However, we recommend you try to find a fellow modeler in your area who can download the magazine and just make you a free copy on a CD or thumb drive.

Hmmm.... Did you download

Hmmm....

Did you download using the MRH download wizard or directly from the legacy download website?

Did the download process claim to have completed successfully?

Which version of Adobe Reader (or Acrobat) are you using?

Which version of which operating system?  Windows XP, Vista, 7, or linux?

If you look at the magazine .pdf file in detail, what is the file length?

Which version, standard or embedded did you download?

Hoping to get your problem solved asap,

I have similar questions ...

We have several different versions of the PDF - which version did you try?

Standard edition - PC?
Standard edition - Mac?
Standard edition - Linux?

Embedded edition?

Printer-friendly edition?

Did you try download from the mirror as well as the primary?

What reader are you using? Adobe reader (which release?) Or some other reader, like Foxit?

Did you try the online version - and does that one work for you?

Let us know the answers and we'll get it working for you.

Maybe Windows is at fault

FWIW I had some problems with Windoze 7, but switched to Linux 2 weeks ago and everything works as a charm (including the much-maligned Jan and Feb issues).

Download for Color Nook

I've been trying to get your magazine to work well on a color Nook - and can get the PC PDF to download - navigation is a bit challenging - but it does work with the PC version, but I suspect the e-reader version would be a bit better....

When trying to download the e-reader version... it tells me to right click in order to save it.... which isn't possible with a touch screen e-reader.  Could you put the e-reader version on the main download page (like the PC version) and let me just click a download button?

Thanks,

Kobo - eReader edition

For the Kobo, the best option would be the eReader edition - you access that by using the green button on each issue's main page.

Jan 2009 issue - embedded? files do not work.

Trying to help a friend (also an MRH subscriber) play the video files associated with the Jan 2009 issues.  I can down load the Q1 embedded issue from the mirror but none of the video links work.  When I click on one it highlights but no video appears.  Suggestions?  My friend wants to see all videos associated with the series of articles on 3rdPlanIt.

Thanks,

Dave...

the problem, I believe, is Adobe's updates to the reader and/or Flash player.  If you want to watch the videos, you should see if they are on MRH's YouTube channel, and if not, request Joe to put it up there when he has some time.
