The 2009 Craftsman Structure Show at Mansfield, Massachusetts
The 3rd annual Craftsman Structure Show, put on by Scott Mason, Doug Foscale, and Jimmy Deignan happened in mid November 2009 in Mansfield, Massachusetts. It featured 26 vendors (some from as far away as Vancouver B.C.) in the super-duper structure kit arena, clinics by top modelers in the country, and a LIVE pod cast of The Scotty Mason Show after the awards banquet on Saturday evening.
(10:37) - Interviews of the show's vendors and attendees, plus a coupld of young diorama contest entrants (click the thumbnail to play video) |
Scott sweet talked (or was that coerced) MRH into video taping the live podcast on Saturday. The Scotty Mason show is always entertaining but Scott went nuts this time. Doug, who normally keeps him from getting too crazy seems to have failed miserably. Despite all the avian overtones Mike Rose manages to compare prototype modeling to craftsman structure building.
Jimmy Deignan, Mike Rose, and Doug Foscale are Scotty's panel (victims?). Dave Frary apparently had the good sense to be missing.
Anyway, check it out - bee there, or bee square!

Joe, Did you or one of the
Joe, Did you or one of the other MRH staff not say there would be photos of the craftsman show in the 5th issue of MRH magazine? I liked your interview with some of the new model vendors how long before we see their banners here as advertisers?
The final two Model builders looked like they were scared to death with the camera staring at them but still were able to give you a good bit of information about their freight depot and surroundings. Its good to see the next generation on the way in.

Great stuff!
Joe,
Great coverage of the show. Really liked being able to "follow" you around the show talking to vendors and people who attended the show. The piece with the two younger modelers was classic!
The coverage you provide of these shows is priceless to me. I'll never be in Boston for a craftsman show, not to mention the many other shows south of the border that I would miss if it wasn't for MRH! Can't thank you guys enough for what you are doing for the hobby.
The Scotty Mason segment had us rolling on the floor in places. Looking forward to more installments and the coverage of the show in magazine too!
Gee, I could have gotten a free subscription
Gee, if I'd gone to the convention, I would have received a free subscription to MRH. Will the offer stand at the next Fugate-attended conference?
