The 2010 Big-E show at Springfield, Massachusetts

The 2010 Big E Show at Springfield, Mass, produced by the Amherst Railway Society, John Sacerdote - Show Director. This is one of the largest (if not THE largest) model train shows in the USA. It's grown to the stage where it uses 4 huge buildings at the Eastern States Exposition facility in Springfield, Massachusetts. And if it's size alone wasn't enough to attract people, profits from the show are donated to charity!

MRH was at this show for the first time with Joe, Patty, Les, Ryan, and Charlie in attendance along with our local friend David who provides support to MRH for our show going efforts in the Hartford Connecticut area. Ryan interviews several show goers and a few vendors on video. It was great to see the number of younger modelers in attendance.

A show hi-lite was the airbrushing clinic taught by Tom Grossman (of iwata-medea - www.iwata-medea.com) and Leslie Eaton, MMR ( www.nanoanimation.com ). Those who signed up were treated to a 3 hour course in painting with airbrushes from disassembly and cleaning, to usage and advanced weathering techniques. MRH documented some of this clinic. If you've ever wanted to learn how to really use an airbrush and get the chance, Leslie and Tom really know what they're doing!

I received an email suggesting that while John Sacerdote is a principal player in producting the Big E shows that a "show of the magnitude of the Amherst Railway Society Railroad Hobby Show is an effort of many hands and volunteers".

My apologies to the other folks at the Amherst Railway Society who worked hard on producing this show!

Regards,

Charlie

We appreciate the wonderful coverage you have given to our recent show. Please note that the correct name of the show is: Amherst Railway Society Railroad Hobby Show and the location of the show is: WEST Springfield, MA...The "Big E" is a regional fair held in the fall at the same location...

Further we are very fortunate to have John Sacerdote as the Show Director... He has instituted many changes to try to keep the show fresh and evolving each year. We also have a hard working Show Office Manager who handles the day to day stuff with vendors, etc. The rest of folks are all member volunteers.

This year for the first we had a "train ride" for the younger folks... We also had a reworked young persons play area... And for the first time we had a Lego layout.

We look forward to seeing you at next year's show: January 29 - 30, 2011...

Thanks,

Sudro Brown, President

You do some fine work. I really enjoyed your Video and your weathering only thing I was wondering do you allow each application to dry or just work every thing together. Again that is one nice looking centerline car.
