Seattle's Alaskan Way Viaduct

Half my layout is based on Seattle, just felt like the Viaduct was necessary. 3D bridge sections (from thingiverse) and wood supports.

Buildings

I started back into model railroading about a year ago. I have a layout (sorry to the realist out there but yes it is on a 4X8 table). I purchased a Union Pacific 906locomotive which I have researched that was used in the 1980s. My question: Where do I look to start as far as structures? Not ready to get too serious (yet?) but I am working to get some buildings that might fir with the 1989s. Where is the best place to look. I've been on modelrtrainstucc.com but it is hard to know "age  appropriate" structures.

Structure LED lighting

This building front is illuminated with 2 LED's removed from a 3-LED strip.   It's  the "machine shop" from River Leaf Models .

The light from the "warm white" 12 volt 3-LED strips looks incandescent, and the strips can also be run on a 9 volt battery, looking quite bright.

Suggestions for EASTERN pre-WWI house models

I modeled the Tonopah and Tidewater RR in Goldfield, Nevada circa 1915 for 15 years.  I know every company and website that made western HO USA models and have stored boxes of wood buildings that are perfect for a Western mining theme. Wild West Models is a good example.  I decidedtTo do something completely different and model a modern diesel short line.  I chose the Maryland Midland RR in Union Bridge.

How to enhance the white decals on water slide material

Well I'm back people. I need what ever in formation is available that is used to bring a clearer image for Micro scale decals boxcar markings to light so a guy can see them. I have great lighting but I still can't make out what they are.

Please help. Thanx Steve Klein

Tweaking Walther's Instant Background Buildings

PLEASE SEE MY LAST POST BELOW. IN SPITE OF MANY GOOD SUGGESTIONS IT BECAME APPARENT THAT REPLACEMENT WITH SOMETHING ELSE WAS EASIER THAN TRYING TO FIX.

Deep module with one track and bridge

I have finished building a frame for my new module that is an addition to my existing branch line terminus.

It will have a 42" radius that will someday join another module.

This is the look I am going for in regards to an inlet with the tide out.

Any idea where to find boat models?

Hi all,

I'm currently working on a design for an O scale layout featuring a 1900's canal port (something similar to Williamsport, MD along the old C&O canal) are coming along nicely, with the exception of boats. I've been able to find several O scale boats, but all have been along the lines of great lakes or seafaring styles.

Anybody know of any sources for O scale canal boats?

Thanks for the help!

Cutting Mat Suggestions

I am setting up my workbench to start making scratch built structures, etc., and would like the community's suggestions for the best type/brand of cutting mats.

What is a recommended size to get .... I'm seeing 8"x5", 9"x12", 12"x18" and up .... but I'm hesitant to spend $20 and up plus for a PVC mat.

Thanks for your input.......

Grampy
