Test topic to demo some MRH web site features

Here is a special thread for us to experiment and demo some of the MRH web site's features.

For instance, we want to show how you can post an image much easier now. Here's an image we've posted using the new upload tab:

What to do in New York and Washington?

From the 3rd to the 13th of October this year, a group of 6 model railroad enthusiasts from Norway, including myself, will be spending some time rail fanning (and hopefully model rail fanning) on the east coast. We are basically looking for good ideas where to go, and what sights to see. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Banner ad server upgrade in progress ...

We're upgrading our ad banner server and it's going to take several hours, so for the time being, all the banner ads on our site have been shut off.

They will return tomorrow - hopefully faster and snappier than ever!

Focus stacking - you've got to try this!

Gentlemen & Ladies,

I've read with much interest the process of "stacking" pictures of the same scene at different focus setting using software to achieve better depth of field.  Charlie Comstock has an excellent presentation on this on this MRH site and recently shared more of his wonderful pictures shot outdoors and edited using stacking software - in his case (and mine) by Helicon Focus. http://www.heliconsoft.com/heliconfocus.html

If you want to manage your personal MRH file space at any time, go to My account on the right and click the File Browser tab. Surprise - there's all the images you uploaded - you can upload more images, make image thumbnails quickly, resize your images, or delete them.

Blending N scale Kato with Code 55

My Bolero, Lindy & Tango RR will undergo major changes when we finish the attic room and I'm having lots of fun drawing plans. It appears that the new layout will be in a "T" shape and I plan to use Kato Unitrack turnouts combined with Atlas Flex Track as much as possible because I'm impressed with the reliability of that combination. Several of my existing Atlas turnouts have been troublesome and the insulated frogs are bad for my short-base steam locos. When I replace them with Kato, everything is fine.

Inkjet Decal Paper

Hello all,

I'm looking for inkjet decal paper other than that offered by Micro Mark. I hope someone can provide me with a lead or a link.

    Thanks in advance

Replacing Locomotive road numbers on Proto 2000 F7

Just received my Proto 2000 Santa Fe F7's for my El Capitan. I would like to use these locomotives on my San Diegan service "1963 era" and need to replace the road numbers. Would someone give me advice on how to remove and reinstall the new numbers?

Thanks
