Car Card Generator...

I've searched and gone through a few of the things I've found, but I'm wondering if there is a more recent car card generator out there that works with Open Office or Excel or Word.  I've got a whole bunch of car cards to make and would really prefer to print them than write them by hand.  Has anybody set up an Excel worksheet to easily enter car info and print out car cards?

thanks

Question on simple operations

In order to have a reason for the RR,I came up with a simple operating system.

The town is on one side of the room, the small 4 track yard on the other side.

I have 16 spots to spot a car.I took plane playing cards, and marked one card for each spot.I then draw 5/7 cards, pull cars from yard, go to town and switch out the industaries. Any car already there is ready to be moved, and brought back to yard.

Here is my issue, The yard is full, where do I go with the returning cars,so is to get them back in rotation.

Reefers (40' & 50') spotting on parallel tracks

Hi all,

I am considering some track arrangements for a (fruit) packing house on my layout. A good proportion (probably the majority) of the packing houses i have seen (track layouts and photos) have 2 or more parallel tracks for reefers. Which means that if all the parallel tracks are full of empty cars to be loaded, the (reefer) car doors must be aligned so that the outer cars can be loaded first through the inner cars.

My question is the following:

Lighted uncoupling tool

Good find  under May news: Lighted uncoupling tool from Hobby Advisors. I tested and I think it is a must have tool.

It always pays to read the "small print " in MRH.

BTW it should be included in a What's Neat Show.

Wheel sets 33" for electrical and general use

Who makes a good replacement wheel set for general use.

Must be made of metal, nickle silver and have a smooth back for electrical pick up, probably 33" ?

Most of my old stuff has plastic or brass wheels, the brass works but I think nickle would be better?

Thanks for any input.
