Truescene Fiber for land forming - anybody use it?

Has anybody had any experience with this product?  You can check out their stuff at:

http://truescene.com/home

They have a link to a video on YouTube showing the application. They claim that it's cheaper than plaster cloth, and I like the work time and lack of mess.

Single flood light...(been busy some on the H's&T's)

Hi friends,

between reading the new release of MRH and dealing with a sinusitis from hell (on anti-biotics) I thought I'd work some on my layout. Since my sinusitis is bothering me, I needed a small project. Enough of those around on a layout anyway.

Not finding what I realy was looking for in our model world, I decided to scratch build....a single flood light.  I gathered what was needed. (not alot as you can see)

Airbrushing Light to Dark Gradation on Sky Backdrop

I have been trying to use Joe Fugate's airbrush method for creating the light to dark gradation at the horizon in a sky backdrop as shown in his video Vol.4 Scenery and Bridges Part1.  The problem that I'm having is that the resulting gradation appears to be splotchy/uneven in spite of the fact I keep the airbrush moving.

Pictures Inside Of An Engine House

A few weeks ago I posted a question that I am looking for pictures or where I can find pics of inside of an

engine house. I scratch built an engine house much like the one Walthers makes. It place next to the edge

of the layout so I need to add some detail to make it look beilevable.

What Tools to use for Making Ground Foam?

Has anyone successfully made Coarse Ground Foam?  If so, how did you get it ground up to the same texture as the manufactured material?  I am wondering if a Coffee Grinder would work?  I'm using a blender on Puree Setting, but still can't get it grinded small enough for HO Scale.  In order to scenic the P&A Layout, making my own ground foam is essential! Thanks for any constructive feedback!

Using a diorama to test scenery ideas

I have been playing around with some scenery ideas for awhile and decided to practice some of them before I put them to use on the shelf layout. I find this exercise in scenery has really helped me to plan some things out on the shelf layout a little better. I want my layout not only to be fun to operate but interesting to look at too. I have a lot more  stuff to do but I think I am  headed in the right direction...

Bridge Crane to unload Ore Boats instead of Hullets

On the Freelanced South Erie, Titansburg, and Iriton RR, an industrial railroad that is co-owned by the proto-freelanced P&A, circa 1953, there will be a port faciltiy to off load coal into lake boats and and to off load ore from ore boats into the empty hoppers.  There will also be a seperate location, along the lake front, where a steel mill will off load ore from ore boats for the integrated Steel Mill. For the Port Facitliy, I was planning on using Hullets to off load the ore.  But for the Steel Mill, since I would like it to have some variety in equipment a
