HO scale Chain Link Fences...

Hi All,

Just after some advice on what others have used for chain link fences on their layouts.  I've purchased a Walthers kit for the module I'm currently working on.  But I will need a considerable amount more for the layout, and it is getting increasingly hard to find the Walthers kits here in Australia.

Has anybody actually scratch built a chain link fence using Evergreen styrene and a chain link alternative like fly wire screen for example?

Cheers,

Jason...

Tum-A-Lum Lumber interior lighting and details

Let me first say that I hate electircal work, but I am making this my "contest model" so it has to have interior lighting. Here are the first 5 lights in place which will be in the retail portion of the shop. I plan on having about 12 lights in the shop section with another 20 in the lumber yard section. I still am trying to figure out the best way to do things and I am pretty happy with the results so far.

A clean building: Wishers Washers

Here is a building I had sitting around that I finally finished up. It is Wichers Washers by SS Ltd. I added the detail kit that they sell that has all the washing machines and some other details. These kits take some time but with a little effort can really be a nice piece to add to a layout.

Road size

I am building my first layout anf want to build a road. Seems simple enough. In looking through years of MRR data I cannot find any reference to actual road dimensions. It seems that 22', (3 inches) appears right. Any help here?

Finished, background building #2 on the H's&T's (updated)

Hi all,

well here are some "in progress pictures" from that second background building I am working on.

A little concrete weathering, some mild "overall" weathering and finishing it all off with an overal drybrush with off-white. Except for the blacks, those are drybrushed with a very light blue.

Tomorow the building lights will be added, so you all may expect an update by then...

How to fill cracks in Styrofoam

Yesterday, the pink stuff was glued down on my new layout and today I affixed the fascia.  I'd like recommendations for a product to fill the cracks between foam pieces, and to fill the gaps between the foam and the fascia.  I went through my scenery materials box to see what I had on hand and here is what I found:

Zip texturing and rock molds

Hey Guys,

I was just thinking about this the other day, I like using Joe's Zip texturing method and it has alway been repeatable.

Its easy to get the same colors following the mix formulas, But I was just thinking.

Since the mixtures are basically colored plaster, has anyone ever tried making rock castings with the mixed plaster.

It would seem to me if you made the mix up, and poured the mold then the plaster would be the same color all the way through.

Just a thought

Thanks

Mark
