Curved Turnouts using CVT turnout ties

In another post, I mentioned that I have made some curved turnouts using CVT plastic turnout ties.  Someone asked me to post information about what I have done. so here it is.

Background:

I follow the techniques described by Joe Fugate in this wonderful article with a few small changes:

A track power indicator just for fun

Our On30 Modular group has a set up in two weeks and one of the headaches while setting up is knowing if track power is on from several different locations.

So just for fun I put this together this evening,

Track=Idle ???

Digitrax DB150 and DT-402 throttle, engine is moving along just fine and suddenly stops, sound goes off. Can't get engine to power back up, move engine along track, nothing. Move back to where it started, nothing. Display on DT-402 is flashing Track=Idle. Press power, then +, but that does nothing. Display just keeps flashing track=idle. DB150 shows power on and track status on, track has power everywhere, can short it all over. Turn off DB150 for a while, turn back on, same display on DT-402, still won't turn on track power.

What decoder is installed

Hey guys I have several Atlas SD60's and SD60M's that came with DCC decoders with sound already installed.  I am trying to figure out what the decoder CV's are.  I don't know what came in them so its hard to make sure that all the CV's are set the same so that when I MU them I won't have any problems with one trying to pull more power etc.   Any idea where I can find this info

JMRI Interface hardware

I was down at a local electronics distributor buying some cable for my DCC throttles when I saw this on the counter: a PoE Power over Ethernet Injector. There was a green side plug that is exactly like my Lenz system uses. I was thinking that I could use this to interface my Mac with my Lenz DCC to run JMRI. It was affordable too, at $55.

Does anyone have an idea of what this is and if it can be used with JMRI?

Thanks.

Feeder Wire Gauge 20 or 22?

I'm starting to lay track on my first layout. I'm wondering which gauge wire to use as feeder drops from the rails,

# 20 or 22? I am modeling in HO scale

Thanks Mark

Tortoise and ME turnouts

I held a tortoise machine in place under an ME code 83 turnout to see if it works and it will not move the switch.

Some specs:

1) From the bottom of the plywood to the top of the turnout tie is 2-1/16" thick.

2) I changed the wire use to .032" music wire, as recommended on many forums. The hole in the turnout was big enough; the Tortoise I drilled out with a pin vise.

3) I moved the fulcrum from its highest point through to the lowest point with no effect.

Where do I connect leds in athearn with soundtrax dcc

I have an Athearn FP45 with factory installed Soundtrax DCC. TSU GN 1000

Several of the bulbs have blown so I decided to change then for Leds, problem is that the Leds wont light up.I believe this is because the output for the bulbs is 1.5 volts & the Leds need 3 or more volts to work.

Does anybody know a way around this

Signal: Common anode to Common cathode converter

Hi Folks,

I have a couple of 3 LED Signal with common cathode.

I have purchased a DCC accessory module to manage them which unfortunately is common anode ONLY.

So I am looking any diagram/scheme to build a common anode into common cathode converter.

Thanks for sharing your past experience and efforts ;-)
