Track and electrical/DCC
Has anyone been able to program an NCE Snap-it using the Bachmann EZ command?
I have converted a couple of Bachmann push button turnouts to NCE Snap-it boards. I must be missing something in the programming sequence. I am certain that the boards are wired correctly, but, cannot figure out how to get them programmed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

Peco switches and block control
I have a Peco switch which routes power as the switch is switch, which leads into a sliding I want to use to park engines. The layout is run by DC.Is it ok to cut gaps into the rails to make blocks wired to an Atlas selector?
How do you mount your signals and still be able to remove them
I have about 16 BLMA signals that I would like to be able to remove then easily for maintenance.
I have seen some people use dip plugs.
How do you mount your signals and still be able to remove them without rewiring them every time..
Am I missing something about Shinohara turnouts?
I recently had a problem with short circuits on a module and with the help of members here I traced the problem to two Shinohara turnouts that had a dead short between the outside rail of the diverging route and the inside rail of the through route. I chalked it up to a defect and replaced those turnouts with a couple Atlas turnouts and that solved the problem.

Single Slip verses Double Slip Turnouts?
Would anyone mind giving me their thoughts about using a single slip turnout rather than a double slip one,...positives vs negatives.??
I have in mind a place where I think the single slip would be advisable over a double, but before describing my particular situation I was looking to hear generalities about the two.
DCC Wire size
I am getting ready to wire my new layout for DCC. This is my first round with DCC so I have a couple of questions:
-I have 10 ga stranded wire and 12 ga solid wire on hand. Would either of these be appropriate to use for the main Bus?
-What is the lightest feeder wires that I should us? I have some 24ga wire on hand.
Thanks in advance for the input

Eco/cork/foam Roadbed?
I saw this product in local big box store yesterday,...underlayment for laminate flooring, etc.
Cheaper than cork. Perhaps a replacement for cork roadbed?

DC/DCC alternatives
I'm wondering what solutions (home-brew or commercial) there are out there that use wireless to communicate (bi-directionally) between throttle and train and use the rails only for delivering power.
Not DC where the track voltage is varied to control speed, but constant-voltage rails where the loco is told (wirelessly) to draw whatever current it needs to go a given speed. And not DCC with control data sent via rail.
Has anyone installed Rapido Railcrew Switch Machines on a foam layout?
My layout is 5/8 inch plywood with 2 inches of foam on top. Has anyone installed these switch machines in the foam? I am thinking of cutting a square of styrene and mounting the switch machine in it and embedding it into the foam.
Any tips would be appreciated.
