Digitrax UT4 direction contol switch

Anyone have info on manufacturer, part number and source of this switch? I have a broken switch that has MTS-1 stamped on one side, with a 3 amp-250V/6amp-125V rating stamped on the other side. Digitrax wants $25, and over a month to repair it. I'm looking thru the Allied and Digi-key on line catalogues, but that is pretty daunting. Thanxz.

Securing magnetic wire?

Been doing some signals, and have done some soldering of magnetic wire to thicker wire to make connections to terminal strips easier and such.  I end up with the inter-twined group of 'hair' hanging down below the signal, and have always been concerned about snagging when I do any more wiring under there, as I always seem to have more to do.  I generally stick a tube of the same size as the signal base tube into the scenery hole, feed the 'hair' down through, remove the tube out the bottom, and there's my wires ready to be soldered/attached to the power.

Filtering DCC for analog operation?

Any Electrical Engineers out there?  I wondered if this might be possible/practical..

Would it be possible to build some sort of filter circuit which could be switched into the main DCC track bus, and which would convert the bit stretched AC of the DCC signal for address 00 into a smooth DC voltage?  I realize that it wouldn't run a DCC loco any more, but it would be nice to have the ability to run a DC loco without worrying about the noise and damage caused by DCC.

Decoder for Building/Street Lights?

I was looking around at decoders and am not finding anything but the full blown signal head decoders that say they will control lights.   I'd like to be able to turn on and off the street and building lighting (all incandescent right now, but some will be LED eventually) from the throttle or JMRI, but not sure what I should use...

Turnout and blocks

Should a turnout be in it's own block or part of a block?

MicroEngineering DCC friendly turnouts power to points

I have bought some Micro Engineering "DCC friendly" turnouts.

"The metal frog can be powered", the closure rails get power "via built-in jumpers from their adjacent stock rails"

The instruction says: "Switch rails (points): Power is already supplied to the two Switch rails via the built in hinge rail joiners at the closure rail/switch rail junction"

Diesel Servicing Yard: Rail Size Advice

Hi group. I am getting ready to lay track on my layout. I will be using Code 83 for the mainline and Code 70 for the branch line. I will be having asmall diesel servicing facility / yard on the layout to showcase my diesels. My question is should the track in the servicing facility / yard be Code 83 or Code 70? Any guidance or thoughts are appreciated.

Scott

crossing templates

I am looking for 22.5 and 30 degree crossings templates that I can print and test on the layout.  I tried FastTracks without success.

Anyone know of a site?

Thanks...Ken

Sound but no motor

Hi All I got a Proto 2000 GP 38 with soundtraxx dsd-ll10lc decoder. Engine has been sitting for years. I took it out and put it on the track nothing. I have an NCE system so I went to check things out on the program track. Reentered the address and then had sound. But no movement. Went into program mode again and it would not accept any starting voltage or top end any thoughts? thanks Geoff

NCE Pro Cab

To All: Anyone out there know how to use the NCE Pro Cab with the NCE Power Cab. I have 2 as the address for the Power cab as suggested by NCE. I have tried everything NCE suggested but cannot assign a loco from the Power Cab to the Pro Cab. HELP. Yours, Elvin Howland/E. St. Louis Rail Group Layout
