DCC problem

Problem: Our club operates a NCE DCC system both tethered and radio. On operating days there are between 8 to 14 members operating. Our system has one command unit with four boosters [slaves] At times when we operate trains the system will freeze. We then have to shut down the DCC system and re boot the system. This is very annoying.
Does any one know what is causing this problem and what can we do to fix it.

DCC PROBLEM

We also operate an NCE system in our club with a similar configuration. one command station 7 or 8 boosters and during op sessions a dozen throttles. Two things have caused us problems. The first is a duplicate throttle number and a bad chord or plug. These create strange cab readouts and frozen controls. Checking and registering cabs is a quick and easy check. Be sure to check NCE instructions for assigning various cab types and numbers.. There are no nos when assigning numbers. The more difficult problem is a bad chord or plug. The only way that can be done if not an obvious problem like a blank or intermittent dead screen is by process of elimination.

DCC problem
Hi Ray
Thanks for your input, I'll put this suggestion to the club and we will see what we come up with. I do recall that one of the members did have a faulty throttle cable and by now he should have a new one.

recall button
In another thread was a description of the same hang-up you describe. One of their causes was members inadvertently pushing the recall button, so more than one cab was trying to control the same loco, which got the system bewildered.

Interesting about the recall button. We have the NCE system and have on occasion had fun with another member by "stealing" their loco. This would be the same as pushing recall and taking over someone else's engine. The only thing that we have ever seen it do is both throttles have control. Either throttle can control all functions, except speed which responds to the highest setting. It does not affect the rest of the system at all though..
