I really like your work modeling the Neenah Sub. I always enjoy seeing the pictures of the WC models running through Dale, Wiouwash Trail, and Waupaca. I was originally going to model bits of the Neenah sub in N scale but due to small spaces, I am going model a small stretch of the Shawano sub from Appleton to Center Valley. Hope to see more in the future!
I always strive for it to look good from 3 feet or more :>) I like the red fascia, is that to co-ordinate with the railroad's company colors? ......DaveB
Yes thats the idea Dave. It would be more appropriate if I were modeling the DM&IR or another ore road eh? I'm not very proud of my fascia. It really goes against the current trends in layouts these days. The rough texture is a current "No No". The fascia is supposed to be unremarkable so as not to distract one's eye from the layout. Funny thing though, I find that my brain tends to quickly ignore it, even though my eyes see it.
I'll have to check on which product I used for the rough texture. Its been a while. Something I found at one of the big box stores, if I recall correctly.
Here is a view of "downtown" Waupaca. Waupaca inspired me to such an extent, that the town takes up an entire wall in the layout room. Perhaps that is fitting as it was a great source of business on the real WC. For me, its just nice to have the place covered with scenery after staring at brown dirt for such a long time. I still have many details and trees to go back and add, but at least I can look over the place and see it covered.

What material or technique did you use to get the texture? I might try that on my next layout...DaveB
