I used to be Hardcore...

into D&RGW steam era... an HOn3 Durango to Silverton layout and then a Tennessee Pass layout set in 1940s, so I ended up painting and lettering my fair share of steam locomotives both narrow gauge and standard.

That's one of the "rules" that kind of catches a person off guard at first.  The flying rio grande slants forward on the locos and slants backwards on the rolling stock.  Although I personally like the slant backward style better.

Cannot state how jealous I am he has the land and the funds to create such a display!

Segment 2

Movie Monday has done it again.  Thank you (again).

Live steam segment 2 was great.  The sounds of the Consolidation under load resounded in my office cubicle at lunch time.

It would, I think, be very interesting to video the steam up process.  Then, you could see what all the devices on the loco and valves on the backhead do.  You could even explain how steam injectors work (using 150 psi steam to push water through a check valve into a 150 psi boiler).

Live Steam #2

I'm loving the Little C-16 just cranking up steam on the up-grade it was chuffing and didn't seam to have to much trouble at all. I liked the switcher moving the Box cars into position for the trip around the yard. Best part is I have all those Engines and Cars in HO so I really got a big kick watching these 2 Videos from Tom Miller and his friends live steamers. The Bumble Bee 268 was great too.

On both these videos the

On both these videos the sound was my favorite part. These locos sound so.. REAL!

I had video trouble with these. For whatever reason, I had a lot of color banding issues when watching on my DVR software. Since I had a baby in hand I could not really troubleshoot it (it was Monday Movie Baby Care Wednesday!). Hopefully I just need to update the player on the computer I have SageTV installed on.

"Sorry Charlie", due to ADA

"Sorry Charlie", due to ADA requirements, the cabooses are not available to stay in.  You'll have to find another place to stay.  Self contained RV's are welcome, as are tents.  If you are planning to come for the Triennial this month, you need to contact the office(541-783-3030) and get a reservation.  The campground usually fills up early.  The RV area is down the hill, but there is plenty of room.  Other places to stay are local motels(7 or 8) although they are probably filled up by now.  There are plenty of motels in Klamath Falls, but that is 26 miles south.  By the way, there is a pet policy; ask the office when you call if you want to bring one.

Love It!

I just finished watching this again with my youngest boy.  He thinks we should visit Oregon too.

Thanks MRH, for a great video!
