My Video Collection is getting stale
Well, with my collection of train videos getting a bit stale (my son has seen them all a number of times) I have placed an order for the entire "how-to" series and live ops series this morning. I am pretty sure they will satisfy for a long time :)
We have picked up a number of "kid friendly" model train videos over the last couple years and more recently picked up a number of the Dream Plan Build series from MRR (some have been good, others not so much).
Anyone else have good videos to recommend?

Finally, some Staycation Time
Its that time again, when I get a few daze off from that thing we call work! I call it slavery! Finally passed the inventory, finally passed the summer, yes, its that short, slow time between September and Christmas season, which starts officially on January 1st, (as far as the boss is concerned!),
Oh no
After thinking I setteled on the Lowville and beaver river, I have been doing some thinking(always a dangerous thing). Now not only am I not sure of the prototype I am going to model, but also have been struggling with scale (n, ho, or on30), era (I have thought about 1850s through modern and all points in between), location, and prototype or freelance or a mixture of both. At the present time I am leaning toward a modern layout with freelanced with some local landmarks thrown in for good measure. Meanwhile, my wife is saying she can't wait to get start on scenicing(her fa
Layout room shape/size
Well, now that the planning has started again on the train layout it is time to get some feedback
Below is a very rough drawing of the area of the (mostly) climate controlled garage, the area is roughly 8'x18' with one end having the outside 2' corners cut off at a 45. Most of the year this area of the garage stays around 65-70 F and the entire garage is insulated, including the garage door. The only thing left to do is replace weatherstripping material around the garage door (need to do that before the snow gets here, so likely a trip to the hardware store in the near future)

Hudson and Hartford Update, Friday 9/25/09
I am sure you guys are tired of periodic weather reports, so I'll dispense with them from here on in.
New photos of my layout in progress.
Here are the latest photos of my Hudson and Hartford layout progress. I will describe what each one represents.
It's cloudy and it's going to rain starting this afternoon on September 22, 2009
Now that you've got the weather report, I have to report things are moving along nicely as I've got the final stand assembled and attached to the rest of the phase 1 layout. Now I have to put together the module that sits on top of it and makes up the phase one benchwork. I have never used this phraseology before so I need to explain but first let me insert a copy of the lower level benchwork plan,
