Using Poly Fiber Mats to Do Landscaping Quickly - a How To Video

In another thread I shared pictures on my process for using poly fiber mats to do landscaping quickly.  You can see that thread HERE.  Here's a video that I made on the process.

No more blues in the Mountain - Salvage yard area on the Richlawn Railroad!

Nothing new here - I just corrected the misspelling of "Richlawn".

NOTE: I added a video showing the step by step process of creating and installing the poly fiber mats.  You can see the video HERE.

NOTE:  I added more pictures and description later in this thread.

Landscaping outside the salvage yard

Most of the work inside the salvage yard has been completed and I wanted a little change in jobs so I started doing landscaping outside of the yard by the back gates.  The back gate is the entrance that will be used when pulling and dropping cars.

I started the process by painting the ground dirt brown and then sprinkling different colors of ground foam.

This is a view of what the back entrance looks like:

I don't like to rush things......or at least that's my excuse on the Richlawn Railroad!

I've had my railroad running for well over a year and have been using my Digitrax DCS50 control to operate the trains.  This meant that I needed to walk back and forth between it and my turnouts / trains to uncouple cars.  The other day I accidently ran into my UR92 wireless panel and figured "Why not go ahead and mount it so I can use my DT402 throttle?

I mounted the panel behind my hinged fascia section and now I can run my trains using my wireless throttle! - what a concept!

Misti Mountain Build - Stop Action Video

When I started my build on Misti Mountain I installed an old video camera opposite the corner of the build and used the remote to snap pictures as the build progressed.  I've made a video of the progress that is two minutes and forty seconds long that you can view below.

Richlawn RR - Progress video - from Start to March 2016

It occurred to me that it's not easy to understand a layout from the multiple postings on the forum.  That's not the fault of the forum, but just the "nature of the beast".  After watching other modeler's progress videos I thought that I'd produce one for my Richlawn Railroad.  The video is 12 minutes long and covers from the very beginning to March of this year.  I hope that you enjoy it!

Richlawn RR - Video of faux rust technique on my fascia

I made a five minute video of the techniques I used to apply a faux rust effect on my fascia.  A special thanks to Tim Warris and his Bronx Terminal layout for the inspiration!
