Coal Loader Part 5, Update
I've put my project on hold due to we are buying a home. So you know what that means. Packing up the trains and layout. The Good news is the new place will give me a bit more room. So hopefully I will finish this project by years end.
Todays update is the first stage of assembling to Crane assembly.
Coal Loader Part 4
lLast night finished assy of hoist by putting flywheel and handle on. needs a bit of touch up paint.
Cut out corner brackets. Your supposed to cut them from the instruction drawing, but I made a copy and cut them out. Then make pin holes where the bolts go.
Coal Loader Part 3
So it's been a bit since I've had a chance to sit down and work on this. I did a bit today so here's a progress report.
Well last time I wasn't aware of what the meaning N/B/W was but glad trolleydrvr was able to help me out. So here's some pics of that detail installed.
Coal Loader Part 2
Well today was able to work a bit more on the coal loader this morning. Having a few issues with the directions though. It says after gluing the four corner braces in place to "drill #76 holes, pre-paint large N/B/W casting and glue in place." . What the heck is a N/B/W ? The parts list, lists all castings as the metal bits none are N/B/W. the plastic parts do list N/B/W, but the only bit I see is the flood light shade. I'll press on with assembly, sure to figure it out later. I can a least follow mostly with the drawings.
Coal Loader Part 1
Well on to the next project for the layout. This time it's a coal loader for the steam engines and we're doing it the old fashioned way by bucket and shovel.
The Kit is a Durango Press number DP-41. Cover image below.
Single Stall Engine House Part 11

They treated me to a visit to the California train museum. I'll post some pics of that soon, It was great. Then another round of visitors here. So busy time it was.
