Operations video of road trains on my ore hauling layout.
Here is a video of my Splitrock Mining Company road train operations. It goes from the dock switcher pulling empties to making up a train. Road power and caboose being added and the trip up to the Vermillion Range and back.
The layout is ready for some scenery, and I will be adding lots of pine and Birch trees, plus a few Minnesota lakes.
The power is all Alco, (Atlas) with Tsunami sound installed by MRH author Mike Rose.
I hope you enjoy.

Dual gauge crossing build with dueling power supplies. Sierra vs. Westside
One of the layouts I operate on is Ed Petry’s Sierra Railroad. He has now started the last portion of building the Sierra and all its interchanges in the hills of Northern California by building the Westside Lumber Company. It will stretch from Tuolumne up to camp 45.
Sierra MOW water car for fire prevention.
I kit bashed this car as a favor to one of my mentors, Ed Petry, who models the Sierra Railroad. Ed has been gracious enough to let me build things for his layout over the years, and paint and weather freight cars and engines.
Scenery work continues during winter weather
I am working on scenery during this cold Minnesota winter. The first part is the top of the hill on my mainline helix.
I like to document this as I am building so I know how much progress I am making. I will be adding a tunnel portal, some concrete retaining walls and making an old abandoned railroad right of way, most likely a logging line abandoned in the 1920’s. I will use some rotted ties and smaller rail such as code 40-55 discarded in the deep woods. I might also add a building foundation or water tower base.
FreeMo Run -By action
Our Minnesota FreeMo group set up this past weekend at a
Train Show hosted by Choo Choo Bob fame at the River Center in St. Paul,MN.
We had a 100x50 foot space allocated to us. Here are some run by shots of trains we were running on Saturday

Layout tour video
I finally had some time to shoot some video. It is just after a operations session. I hope to get the video about operations on my layout completed soon. I have completed a few scenes, and working on a tunnel and lake scene next.
You will see the mines, yards, dock and things in between. The only scene left out is the Train Defect detector shadow box scene on the helix mainline.
Putting BullFrog Snot to use. Adding traction to my Atlas RS-32
I just put my first engine into service, but it needed a little more tractive effort to work the mine branch. I tried MRH sponsor product Bullfrog Snot and it worked like a charm.I dried it with a hairdryer for faster results. they recommend waiting overnight, but I am not that patient with some things.Hope you Enjoy the short video and give Bullfrog Snot a chance if you need more pulling power.
