I am working on scenery during this cold Minnesota winter. The first part is the top of the hill on my mainline helix.

I like to document this as I am building so I know how much progress I am making. I will be adding a tunnel portal, some concrete retaining walls and making an old abandoned railroad right of way, most likely a logging line abandoned in the 1920’s. I will use some rotted ties and smaller rail such as code 40-55 discarded in the deep woods. I might also add a building foundation or water tower base.

Furnace filter trees are in the workshop and birch trees are being built with wire and paste. I also cast many rock molds and have built up a good selection of smaller rocks that have been used for rip rap or are debris from the building of the mainline. I will keep you posted as I make this section of Northern Minnesota better looking.

I also finished a short stretch of concrete ties on my mainline.

Rocks

Yep, those rocks are right on as to our Minnesota Gold. No heat in my train building so all work is at a stop on the road. Taking my frustration out on buildings and such. Not much else to do but stay warm and work on the RR. Come spring it's back to serious work.

God's Best and Happy Rails to You!
