Trains to Bingham Canyon.

The first trains to the canyon came 1873 by way of the Bingham Canyon and Camp Floyd Railroad. The coming of the railroad finally made the mines at Bingham flourish.

Special, Red Lopez Killer at Bingham Canyon.

Everyone should hear this story; it is an important part of Bingham Canyon history. The Bloodiest episode in Utah law enforcement history took place in 1913, when five officers and one civilian were murdered in the span of eight days.

Bingham’s all Electric Railroad.

Bingham Canyon railroads went through two conversions, from steam to electric motors in the late 1920s then electric to diesels late 1970s. The Electric motors gave them great reliable service for 50 years.

The Vertical Tram at Bingham.

The Vertical Tram at Bingham, what a fun thing to ride. The Bingham and Garfield Railroad line came in high above the town of Bingham. To get the passengers down the mountain they built this neat vertical tram. After passenger service was discontinued the employees used the tram.

Ghost Rail Denver and Rio Grande Low Grade Line.

D&RG was the first to transport ore from the open cut operations at Bingham from the mine to the mills. They lost their contract just after a few short years. 84 wonderful construction photos of that line.
