What paint color for metal parts on concrete coaling tower

What paint color for the metal parts on concrete coaling tower by Walthers?  The plastic parts are a dark gray. Just use a dark gray paint or is there a better color?

I have been at track level there.  It is in very bad shape on the lower level.  The AMTRAK station is next to the depot.

Hand laid rerailer

Has anyone out there made a hand laid rerailer.  Any pictures or drawings would be great.  I do HO but shouldn't matter.  I need a project for the long weekend.  Thanks.
