Expansion update

For those following my blog, I’ve made considerable progress in just over a month. Track is down on both sides, and everything is soldered. As of yesterday, everything is now tied into the original layout and is wired up. Test trains have been ran to test track work and wiring.

Static grass has been placed on the original layout where the siding for Allied Chemical was, as well as over where DB Tower once stood. Photos below of this work:

Expansion part 3

Here’s an update as of today on my Hitop expansion. Where my siding was at the left edge of the original layout I have removed all the buildings from”Allied Chemical”, cleaned the area, and put down a green blend ground cover as a base. I’ll add static grass or coarse ground cover, then plant a row of trees along the edge. The siding is now the new main.

Expansion part 2

An update on the Hitop Branch expansion. Five modules are now built and up on legs. Fascia has been installed on all but the back of the yard and has been painted. Two modules totaling 9 feet will go down the left hand side of the original layout, while the right front corner gets extended by 10 ft, including an 8 ft yard. I envision a total of nine industries on all the modules. All my extra track, switches, etc are now in except for my roadbed material, so track laying will commence shortly. The yard however is almost completely in. Below are new photos of the progress:

Next up!

Here is the next project already started. This is another Walther’s Mainline car. I love these cars, as they produce quite a few shortline roadnames no one else does, plus they’re inexpensive cars but look decent. This car is based on a prototype car, and is patched in several different spots with different color paint. The car also has quite a bit of rust and grime on it.

This one’s done!

Progress....

Progress today on the current project! Quite pleased with this side of the car which is finished. Rust wash applied in certain spots, and a new technique used on the door. On to the other side tomorrow. More photos when finished...
