Two posts in two years? Not bad! :-)

Got some more work tonight on the scene! ;-) It's almost done, just need to add some more bins and some junk near the track.

Has it been 2 years already?

Yep, my last post here was two years ago!  I wasn't able to put a lot of work on my layout, but I did play with it some... I did a small one one for my son (a 4x6) but now, it's daddy's turn! :-)

why did it take so long?  I realized I was all over the place working on my layout. Doing work here, then there but never finishing anything.  So I recently decided to focus my efforts on a single location at a time.  I also realized that I needed to work on the background stuff BEFORE working on the front scenery.

Some more work on the plant

Hello everyone,

I have been able to work on more weathering for this building. I have and weathered the graffitis and added, although temporarily, some of the details like the awnings and the rail guard for the stairs.  I have started assembling the roof items but didn't start painting them yet.

Anyway, here goes some pictures.

Finally, another update

Hi guys,

It has been a long time since I was able to work on my layout!  The birth of my daughter and taking care of my 2 year old son took the best part of my time.  There was also an issue with some trackage that I didn't fix properly after the move last March that was haunting me and I thought it would be a huge thing fixing it all...  Well, guess what, it took the best part of 30 minutes, and most of that time was waiting on the soldering iron to heat up!

One more update

Work continued on the intermodal terminal.

The asphalt unloading zone is completed and it only needs a little dirt around the edge where it meets the scenery.

A problem I ran into!

When I started ballasting my spurs, I ran into a small problem!  I am using sifted dirt from my backyard and I have two sizes, fine and coarse.  In the coarse one, I realized that there was some once living things in it (mainly needles form the numerous conifers in the backyard) and thought that I would just remove it when I apply it.  Well, this turned out to be much more involving than I first thought!

Another update.

Again,

another small update.

The intermodal track with the ballast/dirt mix.

The final position of the Unnamed food plant.

The track leading to it.

Pictures of recent work

Hi guys,

As I mentioned last night, I got some pictures for you.  I'd like to have some constructive feedback if you have any, please.

The finished crossover. I haven't included pictures of the switch operating knobs but I may in the future if you guys want to see them.

I'm on fire!

Good evening guys,

One more update, and a big one!

Finally, I was able to continue to work on my layout!  Since I started my vacations 2 weeks ago, I've been working feverishly on it.

Perkins spur - or a journey in HO modelling! Picture update!

Good morning gents,

Another update on my foray into the creation of a switching layout.  This morning, I have pictures of the "underlayout"!

This picture is from the first module with the USB interface in place.
