Pan pastels

I want to try using some pan pastels. I need suggestions as to where to purchase them.

Thanks in advance...

Early wheelsets?

Hello all

I am starting a small layout based on the Missouri & North Arkansas in Eureka Springs in about 1918. I have used smooth back metal wheel sets for a while but for 1918 I'd like to use ribbed back semi scale wheel sets. I know Kadee makes such a beast but I've read some negative information on line about Kadee wheel sets, I want to standardize so I've been looking around but have not found an alternative. My question is what are your thoughts on Kadee wheel sets and do you know of another high-quality ribbed back semi scale metal wheel set?

simple but useful almost free oscilloscope

My son built the simple device shown below according to instructions he found on the following website:

RS11s....thoughts?

Hi all,

Without starting a huge fight, my dealer recieved 16 RS11s in yesterday. White it is just a fraction of his order the first 2 (NH) we opened  a couple parts fell out from each This is not the way Rapido needs start another locomotive. Lets hope the QC improves quickly. While we were able to put them back on, our saving grace was we opened them on a glass display case. Otherwise we would of lost them.......Lets hope thats all thats wrong.

The Platforum "Home for The Holidays" special

We just dropped the "Home for The Holidays" version of The Platforum vidcast.  Guests this time around are Trackside Treasure blogger Eric Gagnon, VIA Rail locomotive engineer Jordan McCallum and Rapido Trains' Jason Shron.  The discussion centers around annual wish-lists, getting trains from Santa for Christmas, picking up relatives at the station, and holiday travel.  Grab some holiday cheer and enjoy.

Weathering advice (roads, bridges, and scenery)

I've completed a number of areas on my layout that look good, but are in need of weathering.  Any weathering suggestions as to what materials/methods to use?  I am looking to weather the roads, the concrete retaining walls and the bridge. Specifically, I am looking for good weathering powders, weathering washes and pens/markers to use for road cracks.  I would rather pay extra for powder and wash sets that are designed for Model Railroads as opposed to going to Hobby Lobby and picking out chalks and making my own.

Ventilation

I've switched from enamels to acrylics for paint, so this is somewhat less pressing than it has been, but there's still the matter of oils and associated turpentine, etc. I haven't built or gotten a paint booth, since I basically don't have any way to exhaust it.I can of course open a window and stick the hose out, but that's only a two-and-a-half season solution. Moreover, it's simply not feasible in the winter, when I'm at the workbench more.

Now I'm reading about resin printers and the evil smells they produce.
