March issue release update - March 7th

This update is to remind you the first Monday of the month is the traditional MRH magazine release date, and for March this is March 7. Any time the first Monday is a little later in the month we get folks wondering where their magazine is, so this is to somewhat head off that concern.

Printing MRH

So, I was talking to LULU.com while ordering a book (yes, I'm 1 of the writers of the book, under our editor who is listed as author.  It's all about the town I grew up in.)

So, since I was there, I asked them about printing specific issues of MRH.  I was quoted an estimate of 57$ per issue.  Anyone got a better price from some other vendor (5 issues (yes, those 5) @ 57$ each = 285$) is more then I would like to take away from my modeling.

Sponsoring Logo size

For advertisers who place a 3x (or more) ad of quarter page size or larger with us, we make you a sponsoring advertiser and give you extra exposure by providing a sponsor logo on our website and in a prominent place at the front of MRH magazine.

The size of the final logo is 120px x 80 pixels at 72 DPI, but you can provide artwork to us that's 300 DPI and we will downsize it to fit in this logo size. Here's the 300 DPI specs your sponsoring logo artwork:

Club subscription to magazine

Today I just subscribed to the magazine for my model railroad club. I am trying to get these guys more involved with the web. I have also set up an email account for the club so we can be on here. It also will allow those guys to become active with the occasional post should they decide to become adventurous. Wish me luck with getting them to do anything but read the magazine

Imagineering/Getting Real

My observation is that there is not very much differentiation between the Imagineering and Getting Real columns.  Many of the Getting Real columns seem to be more about general layout construction than making things more prototypical.

MRH iPad App

I just got it and I like it very much. Now I'm going to read all the back editions that I can find. No more making time to sit at the laptop in the basement! I will lovingly devour each issue.

MRH Help Wanted: Skilled model photographer for 1 week assignment

MRH is looking for a skilled model railroad photographer for a one week assignment in February. We will help cover expenses for the trip to Indianapolis.
