Making Masters and Resin Detail Casting How To.
HI everyone,
I have been pondering for a while about resin detail casting and if there is any interest in sharing this with fellow members and readers.
After building a few highly detailed craftsman kits and spending lots of money on additional details i went on a journey of sculpting and making my own masters to reproduce details like junk piles, old boilers, work benches, crates, and many other details.
I am curious if members would be interested in a how to on this type of stuff. It really isn't that difficult and can be enjoyable.
The Where and Why... Part 1
A long journey covering a short distance.
An interest in trains of old and actually getting to travel behind steam locos in New Zealand as a junior (long night trips to Whangarei-North and locals from Penrose to Auckland city on bright Summer days) created a desire to see models doing it too.
Of course coming from a working class family it wasn't easy and when I eventually started work myself, well lets just say 1970's N Scale wasn't quite the bargain operationally and cheap enough for me to continue.
Dazed and Confused
I have a story and a question to ask. I am using the first entry as a header because the next response is a wall of text and on the odd chance this goes beyond 1 page, I would suffer no one to have to scroll down .
