Scenery and structures

View blocks or Backdrops
What do you do when you reach the end of the peninsula?
And why?
For myself, I'm not a big fan of "rabbit warren" type layouts with benchwork to ceiling backdrops which completely hide the rest of the layout from view. Although they are very immersive and good for photography, I find them to be somewhat disorienting when you are actually in one.

Gradient for Vehicle Roadway Bridge
I'm looking at various ideas for creating a view barrier for a track going into a staging area, and one idea I've got is to use a roadway overpass over the track, with the track curving behind the bridge structure after it passes below the bridge.
My question is, what are typical gradients used for road bridges? A little more info: the bridge will be in an early 60s era layout, the road will be two lane concrete leading out of the business district of a small town, and I'd like the grade to be as steep as realistically possible.
How to Build a Manual Turntable
Here's a "How To" on how I built a custom N scale 8" manual turntable.
I posted this as part of my Free-moN Staging Yard construction thread, but thought it'd be good to establish as its own thread for comments, search and archiving purposes.

Experience with a Bridge from Campbell
Has anyone any personal experience with the 125' double track truss bridge from Cambell Scale Models?
Ideally I'd like to know if it looks like a metal bridge when assembled and painted.
I'm looking for a double track truss bridge, and I've had personal experience with the Walthers. I'd prefer another model if possible (and I haven't ruled out scratch building).
Thanks!
Old ads
Today I found this blog:
Where you can find all kind of old ads. Download, resize and print to use as billboards or poster signs.
ANSWERED. THANKS. Caulk vs. Putty vs. Spackle
I have built a small hill out of ever-smaller pieces of art store foam core board. The steps are nowhere as near large as the pink foam shown in magazines. For an N-scale or Z-scale diorama. The question is, what do I smooth out the sides with to make a slope ,,,,, from what is now a bunch of 'steps'.
I used to use something which, when wet, looked much like oatmeal. I preferred Durham water putty, but now I want something 'right out of the can, or tube'.

Looking for "Precision manufacturing" Riveter
I need to scratchbuild several O Scale bridges and do not want to have to buy sheets and sheets of rivets, meticulously cutting strips of them and attempting to glue them on nad make it look right. A riveting machine is the perfect solution to this.
I know of NWSL's "Riveter" which works with their Sensipress, but that isn't the specific device i'm looking for.
Scratch building a steel bridge.
My layout is in the steam period, @1930. 2-6-0 Moguls will be employed. There maybe an occasional ten-wheeler.

Looking For Info About Craftsman Kits
After almost 30 years out of active model railroading, I have several questions about craftsman-quality structure kits, what they're made of, and how we build them.
First, what are tabbed construction techniques? That's a phrase that's foreign to my ear, yet many kit makers seem to think it's very important.
