The TSUNAMI has had the brake sound and physical brake function since the beginning. By default it is on F11. CV61 has to be setup as well as some momentum in CV3 and CV4. A low momentum value, the brake rate feature will not function.
But it works in a strange manner.
A value of 1 thru 127 (in CV61) gets added (++) to the brake/ decel rate that is set by CV4 (Don't ask me why one would add more momentum.. makes no sense to me )
A value of 129 thru 255 (in CV61) is subtracted (- -) from the brake/ decel that is set by CV4.
The throttle must be turned down and then function applied since this is playing with the DECELERATION rate. It does not lock or hold the brakes. You really need to play with it to grasp the finer points.
This is all cover in the Tsunami manual, Step 10 : Floobydust: Configuring Tsunami's Miscellaneous Features. Train brake is the first misc feature.
The Bachmann Spectrun Tsunami had this feature as well. it was removed from the SoundValue versions.

Marc yes sir, You said it
Marc yes sir, You said it sir, I'm just looking to get decent sound, not toy sound like "see and say" , (that's like a early 70's toy ref) not bottom of the basement stuff..and definitely not all the dimes it takes to get top of the line super realistic Mike Confalone coin too many buttons to push sound, (maybe someday after a winning lotto ticket) but for now I guess better asked...looking for middle of the road decent sound for the coin. I am new to DCC (3 yrs) and its changing improving at a crazy pace...I cant keep up, Im the guy that just woke up to DCC I like it, Im not a big ops guy (but goof around occasionally) , but Christ I'm hearing and seeing cell phone cabs, wireless controls, computer ops, I appreciate the options, but for the love of god...its like the toothpaste aisle, ..way too many options... WTF? looking to run S2, S4, SW1200, SW1500, MP15, short line power-ish, (I currently have some Atlas non sound GP38, RS11, Bachman GP7, GP9 all good runners, just not a big enough mainline) 7x16 loop

Bachman Sound Value
I think you are looking for the Bachmann sound value line. The sound quality is the same as the tsunami, but without all the features. I actually think Bachmann hit the nail on the head with these, the vast majority of people never touch the sound settings of the engines they buy, just changing the address seems to be as far as they ever go, so these simplified decoders are just what they need. Go to any club and you can hear engines blaring away at full volume because the owner doesn’t know to change the volume settings. The Soundtrax Economi decoders are also a good buy if you are doing it yourself.
If you do want to improve the sound of these, get the Scale Sound Systems replacement speakers, makes a big difference in the sound quality.
While people will rave on about one decoder vs another, for the vast majority of people they will never use these advanced features. Even though I play with the sounds and customize the settings for each engine, I almost never use anything other than the whistle, bell and brakes, so having 28 functions really doesn’t matter since I seldom ever use them, and can never remember which sound is on which function button!

Functions
My experiences somewhat echo Brent's.
In my case, I am not adept at using the shift feature on my NCE hand held to access any feature above F1-F9, and F0.
Thus, any used feature needs to be accessible for me on the F1 - F0 keys.
The DCC guy I uses maps all my desired TSU2's diesel features within this range, and I use the devil out of them, especially F3 and above.
I have yet to have my DCC guy to install a TSU2 steam decoder into one of my steam projects, so no experience in that realm, but I know I definitely want adjustable cut off for sure.

I think the two Break Funtion(s) - Dynamic Break and Breaks - on the TS1s has caused some confusion. I know several TS1 users who thought programmed F7, F8, F9, F10 or F12 to activate the Break Squeal / Release sounds would also activate breaking where these functions only actuate the Break sounds. These users came away thinking that the the TS1 did not actually support a breaking. This is understandable as one can easily miss the CV 61 section and the relation of CV 61 settings to the operation of F11.

Sound
Once you have sound, you won't go back.
Sound equipped locomotives save a lot of money, especially if you aren't doing the installs yourself. But some prefer a certain decoder type and do a lot of other customizations to lighting and whatnot, do they'll but the ones without decoders and do their own installs.

Thanks Alex I do have 3 locos
Thanks Alex I do have 3 locos with sound, an Atheran MP15, and Atlas RS11, and a bachman GP7, the atlas has ALL the bells and whistles beyond the bells and whistles, brakes, couplers, etc (got a deal on it at a show) the athearn is my favorite, and the bachman a 3rd...I do enjoy the sound, but on occasion gotta shut it down. You made a good point I don't think I will pay for install again, ( I had install done on 2 Atlas S2 and an S4 DCC no sound, just because I love the little guys, but quality of run was better when they were DC...lol lesson learned. Thanks for the reply.
