I took some photos of the last operating session at my place.  Let's see how things went...

Stuff Happens

Kent Bankhead brought some new Athearn Genesis MoPac Geeps and a matching brass caboose in hopes of drawing a local job.  We changed the normal procedures for a couple locals around the available workload, and Kent bid on the new Cedar Turn, working from Junction City to Cedar and back, also switching Milton.  The only customer at Cedar is Vickers land & Livestock, so he only took the work at Cedar beyond Milton.  Here the train heads back with the pickups.  The tank car is MTY and not placarded hazmat, so no train placement issue.

Here's Kent back at Milton working the fuel dealer spur.  He left most of his train on the siding here before heading to Cedar.  Right behind the power now are the pickups made earlier from the elevator spur in the foreground.  Looks like the spots for Cenex, opposite the fuel dealer, are yet to be made, but the pulls are done.  Once the local work is complete, he'll return to Junction City.

Speaking of which, Junction City yardmaster Chris Brimley is doing his thing at far left.

Meanwhile at Chester (between Milton and Junction City), Gary Brooks runs tonight's Chester Turn.  There were a lot of cars billed here, so it got its own local this time.  Normally Chester and Milton are switched by the same job.  I think he was in the process of running the caboose to the rear of his train here.  That's staging on the lower deck.

On the other side of the yard from Chester is the 25th Street branch to downtown Junction City.  Here's Willard Johnson busily switching industries.  The yard is off to the left.

Jack Chase (left) is up to serious business, descending between Cedar and Lakeview with symbol EKM (Elko Manifest), running today as Extra 3546 West.  Westbounds were accumulating at Lakeview yard, so some space was left on the EKM and a couple other trains to make pickups.  Lakeview yardmaster Duane Grey has everything squared away for the EKM to do its work efficiently upon arrival.

Outstanding work Rob. Thanks

Outstanding work Rob. Thanks for sharing the op session with us. When I first saw the title I thought cool a movie of Rob's layout in operation. I for one would love to see a video of your layout on here while it was operating.

Nice to hear that the operating plan allows you to adjust the jobs according to traffic. We're experimenting with that at Clackamas, and it puts a nice change in the program for the experienced crews.

Video?

Any time somebody wants to drop in and shoot some, and then do the editing, I'll let you.    Until then, enjoy the almost equally exciting photos.

I am wondering if I should

I am wondering if I should forward this to Arthur Houston of Grande Pacific fame. He seems to have time and does some pretty decent video with out lots of prep. All kidding aside if you ever do post video I'm very sure it will be well received.

Robs layout runs like a Swiss

Robs layout runs like a Swiss watch. His attention to detail with track work, DCC control system, scenery, and equipment is second to none.

Uh Oh

Don't let that guy in the above photo anywhere near your trains.  You've been warned.
