George Huckaby of the Bowser/Custom Traxx traction group (www.customtraxx.com) reports that work has begun on developing an HO scale model of the standard 1945 all-electric PCC trolley based on the Philadelphia (SEPTA) GOH car. The car will have the same mechanism as Bowser’s current F-line models with roof teardrop lights and a working trolley pole. Other long range projects from Bowser include a conventional 1920's era steel streetcar.
Centralia Car Shops is working towards a July/August delivery date for its HO scale ATSF-style steel caboose. The ready-to-run model will come decorated in several different ATSF schemes as well as Grand Trunk Western and St Louis-San Francisco. Blair Line is offering Sam’s Roadhouse in both HO and N scale. The craftsman-type kit is composed of laser-cut wood components, laser-cut peel-n-stick pre-weathered corrugated roofing, cast metal details and a selection of special signage. Many of the tab and slot wood planks have nail holes, knots and other imperfections. Laser-cut screen door, door and window trim and corner trim feature peel-n-stick adhesive assembly. Windows may be installed open or closed. The handrail and stairs are also laser-cut and may be assembled on either the right or left side of the porch using a stair assembly jig provided in the kit. The outhouse has interior details and may be built with the door open or closed. The N scale version sells for $32.95 and has footprint of 1.5 by 2.4-inches. The HO scale version measures 2.8 x 4.5-inches and sells for $39.95. Sam’s Roadhouse is available from local dealers.
Funaro & Camerlengo (www.fandckits.com) will introduce three new HO scale resin kits for Pennsylvania Railroad rolling stock at the June Timonium Show including a class H33 covered hopper and a class GLe covered hopper with pressed ribs. Both hopper cars come with white circle keystone decals. Also new is a one-piece body PRR class X26c rebuilt USRA boxcar with a diagonal panel roof.
Digital Fox Services (www.digitalfox.com) has this Northern Pacific 40-foot insulated plug-door boxcar available in six different road numbers. It may be purchased singly or in sets of two through six. The colorful custom decorated HO scale car is based on an Accurail model.
