MRH Issue 3 - STANDARD Edition - Linux release notes

The STANDARD Edition is readable by any PDF reader that can view Adobe Reader version 7 or greater on Linux. Adobe Reader 7 was released in 2005, so most any PDF reader available for Linux should view the LITE Edition with few problems unless it's really old (pre-version 7).

RICH MEDIA IN THE STANDARD EDITION

All rich media content in the STANDARD Edition can be viewed by clicking on it. This opens a web browser window, so you need to be connected to the internet if you want to look at our videos or 3D Click-n-Spin images. Depending on the speed of your internet connection, it may take 60 seconds or more for the rich media to be copied down to your local machine and displayed, so be patient.

Linux machines do not display our Quicktime 3D Click-n-Spin images properly - select the Flash version instead. We provide both a Flash version of the rich media and a non-Flash version so that you can get something that you can view on your machine.

We've also moved to YouTube as the host site for our STANDARD Edition video content as of Issue 3. In recent months, YouTube has upgraded the quality of their streaming video such that it's now quite acceptable for our use. In addition, YouTube and has standardized on the 16:9 widescreen format - which is the same format preferred by MRH for our video content. And of course, YouTube video hosting is free, which works very well for us!
