Local Train Sales

Since Dana Jackson, owner of Dana's RR Supply in Springhill, Florida opened his doors in 2001, every year during the old phart season, (sorry, snowbird season), he has held a monthly train sale and meet, while this concept probably isn't anything new, he is the first hobby shop owner that I have ever known to do something of this nature, at least as far as model train hobby shops go, I've seen it done with model cars, but never with model trains.

E Unit Parts On F Units

I was recently blessed with 3 P2k E8/9 bodyshells, these have come in handy as I work to do some detail work on some of my older F units, these bodyshells are complete, other than the frame and drive that didn't come with them.

The PWRR 4 - New Jersey

Before we leave Philadelphia and begin our run through Eastern PA, let's take some time to visit the other side of the Delaware River. Southern NJ was largely served by the Pennsylvania/Reading Seashore Line. I model the first two cities heading east after the river; Camden and Collingswood. My parents moved to Collingswood from West Philly so I spent much of my youth there.

I commuted to my job at Conrail in Philly on the PATCO High Speed Line, one of the best run rail lines in the country. That's where I observed some of the industries that I modeled.

Long Overdue Update of the Kamloops Division Point **UPDATED**

It has been a long while since I have posted anything related to my N scale Kamloops division point layout. I have made a bunch of progress with getting one third of my staging in place, handlaying more track and installing the wiring.

Here is  a shot of my handlaid trackage to date.

Gremlins and other stuff

Its Tuesday, November 10, 2009 and I'm in my office at the college as usual (at least until the semester is over.) I am giving a test this morning and so I don't have to teach anything and I can devote some of this time to thinking about my layout. In the meantime I have a few things to say to my readers.

Look what I found

I have been thinking about car floats, but look what I found yesterday while paging through the November/December 2003 issue of N-Scale Railroading:

What have I done?

Well, today was a pretty good day at the Syracuse train show, but something rather unexpected followed me home:

An On30 2-6-0 and a tank car.  I plopped them down a piece of flex and said "man, thats neat"-guess I have yet more planning to do...
