You can ballast miles of track in minutes this way:

DAP WELDWOOD Dry Resin Glue ( avialable on EBay)

BALLAST   I am  N Scale:  I mix i part medium with 2 parts fine, gives a much more realistic look. The formula is the same regardless of scale.

MISTER, NOT A SPRAY BOTTLE, spray bottles put a stream of water out and all you want is a mist,  Optical shops have these, they are usually smaller bottles made for spraying eye glasses to clean them.  Big Box Pharmacy/Health areas probably have them.
