Building IC 3400

There are no prototypically correct HO scale plastic IC steam locomotive models for the period from about 1936 when the rebuilding program started in Paducah until the end of steam on the IC in 1960.  There are some brass models available on the secondary market.

Update on the IC Freight House area

I'm continuing to make progress on the two modules that will model the area around the IC Freight House and the industries around it.  The IC had a large freight house in Centralia, most likely much larger then necessary.  The freight house was 182' 2" by 40' 8" with a wooden freight platform at the south end that was 274 feet long.  The platform was actually two separate platforms. Last week I built the southern portion of the platform using strip styrene:

I've spent the last week or so working on the streets and sidewalks on my first two modules which are of the area around the IC freight house. This is the area that is on the modules I am currently building:

Modeling Centralia, IL 1955 in HO

I got back into model railroading after a 35 year break about 8 years ago when I retired the first time.  I was well into the dream, design and buy stuff phase when I let them talk me into going back to work for a few years and for three years I basically just dreamed about a layout and bought things.  I built some models.
