What it looks like today 3-9-2020In late 2014 Tony Koester asked if he could use the first photo in his “Train of thought” column in “Model Railroader” The photo ran in the February 2015 issue. The second photo is of the area today. In the fairness of full disclosure the first photo was taken in August of 2014.
Small Roundhouse build
I bought this kit from a collection donated to my club. I thought with it's small size and rustic appeal it would be perfect for my fictitious northeast narrow gauge. Because it was modeled after a southwestern prototype (see photo of kit box cover), the kit came with no doors and a roof ventilation structure for cooling. It also had a small addition for a handcar. I eliminated the roof ventilation structure, built doors and eliminated the handcar shed in favor of a workshop / office.
